Library Bits & Pieces
by
Vicki Kurashige
Happy New Year to all.  Wishing you a healthy, peaceful 2010, full of the pleasure of reading, listening, and watching.  On your trips to the library, we hope you noticed our new sign, bright and beckoning.  Our library 'look' is complete.  Thank-you again to Alex Romeo, his Eagle Scout project, his loyal family and friends.

January 2 was the day the Johnsons, representatives of the Northern Columbia Lions Club, visited the library for a chat and a gift.  We received a generous donation for our large print collection, and were also asked to acquire a biography of Helen Keller.  Helen Keller was a speaker at the Lions Club in it's early days.  She was so compelling, that thereafter, the Lions Club  decided to devote time and effort to helping individuals who have sight and hearing impairment.  Among other activities, they collect eye glasses and hearing aids.  Used hearing aids are refurbished and fit for those who need them, but find it difficult to pay.  A box for used glasses and hearing aids is on the large print book shelf.

The Lions Club intends to gather and donate childrens books for Rep.
Tim Gordon's 'United Through Reading' program.  We invite anyone who can, to donate books for this cause.  Bring them to the library and a member of Rep. Gordon's staff will pick them up.
