What's New at Poet's Seat Health Care Center
Happy New Year -- as we celebrate it at Poet's Seat Health Care Center -- Happy Noon Year! The afternoon is when the residents and staff festively rang in 2010. Here's a small sampling of what's happening this month at our comfortable and caring skilled nursing facility. We have a wide array of activities taking place each day. Come see us!Friday, January 15 -- Hat Day SocialWe're starting off the New Year on a silly note with a Hat Day Social with
Eddie C. This is a great opportunity for residents to make a bold fashion
statement by wearing their most stylish or crazy hat. A
prize will be awarded to the Zaniest Hat. Thursday, January 21 -- Chair Yoga
Chair Yoga is scheduled in the Recreation Room this day. Certified
exercise instructor Jody Fontaine will host the class. Residents know Jody as
their Gentle Movement class instructor, which takes place the first Tuesday of
each month. Yoga is wonderful for elders due to its slow and gentle movements
and breathing exercises. Chair Yoga can benefit all residents! Thursday, January 21 -- Queen for a DayYOU can be a queen for a day. A Queen for the Day Social is
planned, and we'll have a 'surprise' entertainer. The staff will choose a Queen
and her four Ladies in Waiting, early in the day. Loads of fun to be had! Not to be missed! Friday, January 29 -- Fruitcake Toss It's time to toss that fruitcake. We'll be throwing a
Fruitcake Toss Contest. Staff and residents are strongly encouraged to
participate. Bring in that leftover fruitcake and join in the fun.
Good wishes for a peace-filled New Year,
The Staff of Poet's Seat Health Care Center"It's not just about the care...it's about the caring." |
Oximetry Pulse Oximetry now available!
|
|
Poet's Seat Health Care Center now offers Overnight Pulse Oximetry, state-of-the-art monitoring of a resident's breathing non-invasively throughout the night. The data gathered is clinically used to determine nocturnal
oxygen prescriptions in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This monitoring equipment can screen individuals with COPD-related sleep-disordering breathing from the larger group of people with snoring
and daytime sleepiness. We're very happy to offer this technology that provides a comprehensive report that is easy to
read and interpret. We use overnight pulse oximetry as a standard part of Poet's Seat's inpatient Breathe Easy pulmonary rehabilitation program.
