  Thoughts from Kathi ...

M As my thoughts turn to the world tragedies that are so prevalent in the news I realize how vital it is to have a refuge, a place of safety: and if not a physical place of safety, then a spiritual refuge. Blessed be the name of the Lord.  His name 'is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe'. Proverbs 18:10  The righteous RUN into the strong tower God has provided for us in Christ Jesus.  The action word here is RUN.  A few years ago I was having some health challenges. God graciously taught me and showed me that it isn't good enough to just know His Word: I must act on it, and quickly.  My natural response to adversity is to turn it into self-pity.  Then suddenly I realize I have a STRONG TOWER to RUN to.  More and more each day, instead of dragging my feet, I RUN to Jesus, and to safety and victory in Him.  Jesus is your strong tower.  RUN TO HIM.  Oh! by the way, when the enemy attacks, this is one tower that will not come crashing down.     Kathi Torio

Terrorists And Publicity ...

Many experts draw a careful line between the ordinary criminal and the terrorist. Terrorism is violence aimed at those people watching. Fear is the intended effect, not the by-product that distinguishes terrorist tactics from muggings and other forms of violent crime. By simply thrusting their way into public consciousness some terrorists have achieved their primary goal - attention. The success of a terrorist operation depends almost entirely on the amount of publicity it receives. Coverage of terrorist incidents can intensify the climate of fear and help discredit legitimate political authority. Terrorism's present significance lies less in what has happened than in what people fear might happen. Taken from an article written in Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations by Paul Lee Tan

2 Timothy 1:7 ... For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
