 Why Romania?
Valentina

It has been 20 years since the fall of Communism in Romania.  Economic progress, although slow in coming, is beginning in certain areas of the country.  The European Commission has praised Romania's progress in tackling human trafficking (although still prevalent), improving detention conditions and child protection.  But remember the old adage 'the rich get richer and the poor get poorer'.  This former Eastern Bloc country brutalized by the Ceausescu dictatorship is leaving many behind.  The limited family allowance and old age pensions are far below adequate need and limited progress has been made regarding the treatment of people with disabilities and the integration of minorities.

See this recent report from the BBC News: 'What Became of Romania's Neglected Orphans'.

It is the desire of Tabita Ministries to reach out to the poor in Romania, especially the children, with the love of Jesus in a spiritual and physical way.  This type of ministry always seems to have a list of needs, and we know God will "supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory."  Of course He still uses Good Samaritans to supply these needs.  Thank You to our faithful ministry partners.

Learning for Life Center
...
Life Center PixConstruction of the Learning for Life Center building began in August 2009 after waiting several months for permits.  Supervision for the construction is being undertaken by Pastor Marius.  He is doing a superb job of getting volunteers and skilled workmen and negotiating exceptional deals for material etc.  The building is constructed to European Standards to withstand natural disaster and went up in an unprecedented length of time.   It is a blessing to work with Marius and we all look forward to finishing the building in 2010.  see building pictures

Evangelistic Campaigns ...
Marius Concert
Pastor Marius and Tabita conducted several evangelistic campaigns throughout Romania in 2009.  Many people recommitted their lives to Jesus and made new commitments.

New Year's Eve Celebration ...
New Year Ciacova New Year's Eve was celebrated in the Learning for Life Center.  (Amazingly, Marius was able to complete the meeting room to a point where it could be used.)  They had a wonderful time bringing in the New Year with 83 youth, children and parents attending.  This is what it is all about!  Praise the Lord!

Many Emergency Grocery bags and clothing were delivered to those in need.  We continue to rent a house in Ciacova for the emergency shelter, Casa Agape.  Currently an abandoned mother and her children live there.  Marius and Tabita give guidance and council to the family.  read more

PLANNED MINISTRY ACTIVITIES 2010

Outreach to Romania 2010 ...
Pictures of Praise M&K
Kathi and I plan to be in Romania April 15-May31.  We will minister to the Ciacova community and other surrounding areas from the Learning for Life Center with Chalk Talks and Music.  Over the years this method of evangelism has been very effective in communicating the Gospel and many people have come to the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.  We will also encourage the Romanian people in the area to become involved with Tabita Ministries.

Republic of Moldova ...
Republic MoldovaWe plan to travel to Moldova with Pastor Marius and Tabita for outreach services.   On our way we will pick up dried soup-mix and clothes from the container that was shipped to Extended Hands Ministries.  Many of the people in Moldova are very poor and have need of these items.  This is a practical way to share the Love of Jesus.
