'The Extraordinary Mile' is a free, fun & fully accessible event filled with entertainment, music, art and games for children and their families. The event will focus on raising awareness of the rights of children with disabilities in Africa.

AbleChildAfrica invites you to travel an Extraordinary Mile through Clapham Common, London on Saturday 16th June 2012 between 11am and 3pm. You will take a journey into the lives and stories of some of the extraordinary people and children AbleChildAfrica works with. Whilst traveling along the path guests will visit various interactive stations and games designed to educate them about the work AbleChildAfrica and their partners are doing every day.

The path will lead through to an entertainment area, where there will be music, African drumming workshops, dancing, facepainting, balloon modelling, sports and other children's activities for our guests to enjoy and take part in!

Saturday 16th June marks the International day of the African Child and this year's theme celebrates and promotes 'The Rights of Children with Disabilities'.

Our guest of honour at the event is Team GB Paralympian and AbleChildAfrica Patron Anne Wafula-Strike!

For more information on the day and how you can get involved please email extraordinarymile@ablechildafrica.org.uk or call 020 7793 4144

How to get there

The event is being held on Clapham Common, London, SW4.

The Extraordinary Mile will be set up in the centre of the park next to the café and the bandstand. Take the path off Rookery Road past the Long Pond and the event should be clearly visible. Alternatively take the entrance into the park off Long Road to the north of the park.

The nearest accessible station is Clapham Junction on the overground or there are a number of bus routes that take you directly to Clapham Common station.

Please check Lambeth council's website for the nearest disabled bays or other suitable car parking spaces.
