30/60 Day Bikram Yoga Challenge
| "Give me 60 Days and I will change your life" ~ Bikram Choudhury
Daily yoga has always been and will always be the most effective way to make progress in your practice. Making 'progress' in your yoga practice is not about who is more flexible, or trying to look perfect in a posture. Progress is much more of an internal experience than it is external. While everyone experiences this very differently, we know the overall result of a daily yoga is improved benefits to your health and vitality.
To help motivate our yoga family to experience the benefits of daily yoga, we are hosting a studio wide 30 Day Yoga Challenge this March. Many of you have signed up, about 45 students in Farmington Hills, and 55 students in Troy, most doing the 30 Day Yoga Challenge, with about ten doing a 60 Day Challenge!
More exciting for the greater area is that our neighboring Bikram Yoga studios in Northville and Grosse Pointe are also hosting a 30 Day Yoga Challenge this month. It's our hope to have more Metro Detroit-ers than ever practicing daily Bikram Yoga and sweating their way to better heath!
Now that we are about 1/3 through the 30 Day Challenge, as expected the complaints are rolling in... aches, soreness, stiffness, bruises etc. Even though it sounds a little rough, it's very common! If you aren't used to daily yoga, you may experience these things but rest assured soon they will be a distant memory and your practice will be stronger than ever.
If you are struggling at all, keep this in mind.... take your Yoga Challenge one day at at time, one class at a time, one posture at a time! Don't worry what's to come, how many days left, etc. You can do it, one day at time!
For more advice, read up on senior teacher Erika Budson's blog article on the 30 Day Yoga Challenge here.
And if you haven't read the Oprah Magazine article about a Bikram Yoga student on the 60 Day Challenge, check it out here Part 1 & Part 2
If you missed out on this group Challenge (Troy Challenge closed to new sign-ups, Farmington Hills still room for sign-ups until March 15th) don't worry we will have another group opportunity later this year, or you can always do a personal Challenge anytime throughout the year!
Happy Sweating!

"I am entering my 60's energetically and with anticipation of many more years of Bikram Yoga and continued good health"... Laura Lazar
A flushed face and 'cute' yoga outfit of her neighbor is what brought our March Student of the Month to her first Bikram Yoga class, 10 years ago. Yes, 10 years ago! Laura Lazar, the soft-spoken and always smiling regular, can be found at our early morning Farmington Hills classes on the left side of the room. A determined and patient student, Laura has come far in her practice and even makes an effort to attend classes when she's traveling out of state, or country.
Through her dedication to Bikram Yoga, Laura has seen many positive changes in herself, both inside, and out. A Physical Therapist, Laura knows that an active body is a healthy body, so with every yoga class she takes, she is reaffirmed of the benefits of her hard work.
As Laura celebrates her 10 years of doing Bikram Yoga, we wish her another healthy 10, plus many more! As you read Laura's story, you too may be inspired to reach your 10, or 20.. or even 30-year goal of doing Bikram Yoga. Congratulations Laura!
