When looking for the definition of dedicated, Larry Kilgore's name should pop up. Yes, that is Detroit Bikram's July Student of the Month, Larry Kilgore. A student of Bikram Yoga for over 8 years, Larry is one dedicated yogi! Without question, Larry will always be in an early evening class during the week, rain or shine, front row, smile on his face, and eager to get started. His hard work and honest effort never go unnoticed amongst teachers and fellow students who have all been inspired by him. Over the years his practice has evolved as his stamina, strength and flexibility have improved, but he'll be the first to tell you that he's far from reaching all of his goals! Larry has become a huge part of the Detroit Bikram family in more ways than one. We all truly value his love and dedication to his practice, and our studios. Keep up the great work Larry! If you are a new student, or thinking about trying out a Bikram Yoga class, read Larry's story and see how Bikram Yoga can become a lifetime yoga practice. And if you're a regular, and have been practicing for a few months, years, his story may actually sound pretty familiar to you and your own yoga thoughts, and goals. Enjoy!
"I started yoga classes on November 4, 2003, or maybe it was 2002 - who could remember? My first teachers were Erika Budson and Jenny Barrett. What a great tag team! Back then they owned the 4:30 class. Since then there have been many more teachers - wonderful all - and so so so many wonderful and amazing people to share the classes with. I do want to know how the teachers remember all those names! It seems to be a universal talent with them. I didn't fall in love with the yoga right away, but it was easy to see the benefits. So, my first Yoga goal (yes, I am type A, I have to have goals!) is to go to class, and that turns out to be the only important goal. After that I try to give it an honest effort according to my abilities on that day and it's easy to see that a lot of people in the room are doing the same thing..."
