2010 World Cup USA: Home Team Wins 6 Medals |
At the home of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Ga., the US hosted more than 400 competitors from around the world to compete for Olympic selection points, hardware and bragging rights. This match served as a precursor to the World Shooting Championships in Munich in July. Rifle National Coach Dave Johnson's team scored 5 of the 6 US medals won. "We had a really good World Cup - some of our young folks shooting to attain MQS, senior veterans hitting the top of the podium, and we were in every final. We are contending everywhere," said Coach Johnson. See below for a list of medal-toting Americans:

Double Take in Dorset |
(c) 2010 ISSF Marco Dalla Dea |
Yes, that's Jeff Holguin checking out the scoreboard - he has little reason after the consistent match he shot. At the shotgun World Cup in Dorset, England, he rocked the house. Three straight 48's helped Jeff Holguin earn 144 and a chance at the final round. With a solid 45 in the final and 189 overall, Holguin captured bronze. Finishing in 4th was USAMU's Josh Richmond. Teammate Vincent Hancock finished 4th in Men's Skeet. Also just shy of the podium was Kim Rhode, who finished 4th in Women's Skeet.

Men's 50m Free Pistol was won by Jason Turner with Daryl Szarenski and John Zurek also making the team. The Last of the Show Circuit: NRA 2010 |
All smiles and handshakes, athletes Jaiden Grinnell, B.J. Accompanied by Buddy DuVall (USA Shooting Team Foundation), Corrie West (USAS Marketing) and Katie McGinty (USAS Media & Public Relations), the group served as excellent ambassadors of USA Shooting. |
