The Gift of History

Oklaoma Historical Society

Oklahoma City, OK

The officers, directors, and staff of the Oklahoma Historical Society recently were honored to receive a donation from Dr. Nazih Zuhdi to provide 518 new Family Memberships in the OHS to his friends and colleagues! This will expose the new members and their extended families to all of the benefits of membership.

Many other members of the OHS provide gift memberships in the OHS to other individuals or families, and we want to encourage other members to do the same. Our growing program of activities for people of all ages, conducted at the Oklahoma History Center and at 30 other museums and sites throughout the state, combined with our publications ensures that all can enjoy membership in the OHS.

Membership revenues support our publications and education programs. Tax deductible gift memberships benefit the OHS in making it possible for us to continue to focus on quality in our efforts to collect, preserve and share the history of Oklahoma and its people, and new members will enjoy being a part of an organization that has focused on this mission since 1893.

Members who would like to give the gift of history to others are encouraged to contact Alma Moore (405-522-5242 or ohsmembers@okhistory.org), Shelly Crynes (405-522-0317 or scrynes@okhistory.org), or Paul Lambert (405-522-5217 or plambert@okhistory.org) for more information.

Advanced Registration to be required for Some Special Events at Oklahoma History Center

Oklahoma City, OK

In order to enhance the quality of certain programs, including events featuring historical re-enactors such as Fritz Klein (who portrays Abraham Lincoln), several significant changes in how the events are conducted will be instituted.

When scheduling makes it possible, we will stage public performances both in the afternoon and in the evening. This hopefully will make it possible for more individuals to attend one of the presentations.

In addition, the performances will be staged in the Chesapeake Events Center. This will reduce the size of the audiences to a maximum of 350, but the quality of audio and video will be enhanced. There will not be a bad seat in the room as everyone will be relatively close to the stage.

Advanced registration will be required to attend. The registration period for OSH members generally will begin two weeks prior to the event. Members should make sure their membership has not lapsed in order to participate in early registration. Registration will be available to both members and non-members one week in advance of the program.

The registration schedule, along with details as to how to register, will be announced in Mistletoe Leaves and in OHS EXTRA!.

If you have any questions, please contact Paul Lambert at (405)522-5217 or plambert@okhistory.org.
