Lunch & Learn Lecture

August 24, 11:30am - 1:00pm

The Oklahoma Historical Society Research Division will sponsor another Lunch & Learn lecture on Wednesday, August 24th.  The lunch is from 11:30am to 1pm.  The topic will be "The Ins and Outs of Searching the Oklahoman Archives."  Phyllis Davidson will explain how to explore the online archives of the Oklahoman and use them as a research tool.

 

Registration is required for the luncheon and the cost is $10 per person.  Lunch is included. To register, please call (405)522-5225.

Special Open House for Volunteers

August 27, 1pm - 4pm

Oklahoma History Center

 

If you are a volunteer, or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please mark your calendars to attend a special open house on Saturday, August 27th from 1pm to 4pm at the Oklahoma History Center.

 

Anyone interested in volunteering for the museum or the research center is encouraged to attend.  You will be able to learn more about the requirements and procedure for becoming a volunteer, as well as the areas where you can volunteer and the wonderful benefits of being a volunteer.

 

A tour of the museum will be offered at 2:30pm and preregistration is required.  So, please be sure to let us know you are coming if you would like to participate in the tour.

Family Saturday Program

August 20, 10am - 2pm

Oklahoma History Center

 

Plan to visit the Oklahoma History Center for the next Family Saturday program on August 20th.  The topic will be "Back to School" and it should be a lot of fun for the kids.

 

The program will feature school activities from the past and will teach the kids how children learned during different time periods.  The focus will be on the one-room schoolhouse.

 

The event will be from 10am to 2pm.  During the program, admission is free for children younger than 18 who are accompanied by an adult. Admission will include all activities, as well as full access to the museum and its exhibits.  Regular admission will be charged for adults.

 

The Family Saturday programs will take place until October, 2011.  If you would like more information, please call (405)522-0765.

Fred Drummond Home

Ice Cream Social and Open House

August 6, 1pm - 5pm

Fred Drummond Home, Hominy 

 

Please join the members of the Friends of the Fred Drummond Home on August 6th from 1pm to 5pm for an open house and 1907-vintage ice cream social.

 

The public is invited to enjoy an afternoon eating ice cream while viewing the new renovations to the site, which includes new exhibit panels.

 

There will be an ice cream-making contest, as well as a three-story cake made as a replica of the home.  A cake raffle will take place during the day and the proceeds will benefit the Drummond Home.
