Paul Andrew Hutton to speak at OHS Annual Membership Luncheon
April 29, Durant, OK
 
Paul Andrew Hutton, distinguished professor of history at the University of New Mexico and executive director of the Western Writers of America, will speak at the OHS Annual Membership Luncheon in Durant on Thursday, April 29.  He has Paul Andrew Huttonreceived the Ray Allen Billington Prize from the Organization of American Historians, the spur Award from the Western Writers of America, and the Evans Biography Award for his book Phil Sheridan and His Army.  Hutton's topic for the Luncheon will be "Phil Sheridan and the War for the Southern Plains."
 
Hutton received a Ph.D. degree in history from Indiana University in 1981 and has had a distinguished career as lecturer, author, editor, teacher, narrator, and commentator.  In addition to his extensive list of publications and awards, Hutton has written, appeared in, or narrated more than 150 television documentaries on historical subjects on CBS, NBC, PBS, Discovery, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and the TBS, TNN, and A&E networks.
OHS Annual Meeting Convention Hotels

Members and guests planning to attend the OHS Annual Meeting at Durant on April 28, 29, and 30 may receive special convention rates at any of four hotels if they make their reservations by April 14, according to Dr. Paul Lambert, Annual Meeting Coordinator. The Annual Meeting programs and activities will be held at the Choctaw Casino Resort and Convention Center, located at 4418 Highway 69/75 in Durant.
 
Hotel rooms range in price from $65 to $99 per night.  Annual Meeting Attendees may stay at any other hotel of their choice, but the hotels below are the only ones offering convention rates.  When calling to make reservations, members will need to inform the hotel personnel that they are participating in the OHS Annual Meeting in order to receive the discounted rate.
 
Of the four hotels, the Choctaw Tower (which opened in early February) and the Choctaw Inn are located within the Choctaw Resort, while the Microtel is located close by and is served by a shuttle provided by the Choctaw Nation.  The Holiday Inn is not far away.  Below is information on the rooms available at the convention rate as well as an address and reservation phone number for each hotel. http://www.choctawcasinos.com/Durant/Hotel.aspx
