Capture Fall with
Season-Extending
Anemones

Fall head over heels for wonderful windflowers, a sought-after standout in the perennial border.  Don't miss out on the fall-blooming Anemone liners you need to order now!
DID YOU KNOW?

Fall-flowering Anemones are best planted in late May to June for full finished pots this summer and fall. No vernalization needed!

Finish a gallon pot in around 6 weeks for green sales, and a quart pot in around 4 weeks from a single 72-cell liner. Flowering occurs in 15 to 18 weeks from transplant, depending upon variety.

* Virus and nematode-free stock source

* Stock renewed annually from tissue culture

* Better uniformity and easier to plant than bare root

* Flower checked true-to-type varieties

* Liners available May - June

Choose from a pleasing palette of colors and forms:

'Honorine Jobert' or 'September Charm' (two shades of pink on the same flower!) for early season flowering, followed by 'Little Princess' and 'Party Dress'.

Anemones prefer humus rich, fertile and moist soil and will burn if allowed to dry out, which affects flowering. While they do well in full sun, plants also appreciate a little late afternoon shade. You'll be rewarded with dozens upon dozens of flowers waving on wiry wands in the wind, drawing customers like butterflies.

What's not to love?

Fascinating folklore of the Anemone ranges from vilifying the very air surrounding the flowers as poisonous (hold your breath when running through a field in bloom) to being omens of illness, amulets for luck and good health, or fairies' habitats. I think we can safely say that none of these folk tales hold any truth, although if you see a fairy flitting in your garden, please keep the secret. Mum's the word!
