Before I let you off to enjoy the rest of your week, I also want to tell you about a new wine I was turned on to by my wine buddy Greg B. He told me about a wonderful wine made by Tenuta Dell' Ornellaia, one of Italy's finest wines. Their flag ship wine sells for somewhere between $180-300 a bottle. Their second bottling,  2009 Le Serre Nuove, comes primarily from the younger vineyards on their Estate. The wine offers the pedigree of the flagship wine in an approachable youthful style. Soft in texture, with a fine structure, balance, and intensity to match. The 2009 Le Serre Nuove dell' Ornellaia displays wonderful dense ruby red hues, with wild red berry fruit and herbs on the nose. This wine shows complexity and structure from the Cabernet and velvety roundness from the Merlot and a clean focused drive from the Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Again, this is what I would consider a First Growth from Italy. Imbibe's normal price is $65 a bottle, but pick up some bottles before July 31st and get them for $52.50 each!
