Hold onto your seats because this just may be the best wine tip you will get this year. I just got off the phone with a long time friend who allowed Imbibe to secure fifteen six-packs of
2008 LINDSTROM
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Here are the facts:
The Winemaker: Celia Welch, known for Scarecrow, Corra, D.R. Stephens, and Staglin Family, among others.
The Vineyard Manager: Michael Wolf, known for his work at Harlan, Bond, Araujo, Scarecrow, Vine Hill Ranch, Lail, again,
just to name a few. Do I really need to go on?
The Story: I recently tasted this wine and almost fell out of my chair. After a few questions and discovering that Celia and Michael were involved, I had to get some. The fruit hails from the Nicali Vineyard, named for the owners' daughters, Nicole and Ali. This is a remarkable piece of land in the heart of the Stags Leap District surrounded by vineyards owned by Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Shafer Vineyards and Joseph Phelps Vineyard.
The Wine: This wine has beautiful balance with wonderful flavors and aromas of boysenberries, cassis and dark blackberries. Notes of pecans, dark chocolate and a touch of baking spices. Lindstrom spared no expense; the wine is aged for a total of 20 months in 80% new French oak, then blended, put in bottle, and rested for months before its release. Less than 500 cases for the world and I'm pleased to be selected as one of the few retailers in the state to be offered this wine.
The Press: Don't wait too long before you add this wine to your cellar. The press for the 2008 is as follows: 94/100 Wine Advocate and 93/100 Wine Spectator. The 2009 scored 95/100 by both Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. Imbibe price $95 (1-3 bottles), $85.50 (4 bottles or more).
We may have missed the boat on Apple stock, so take my advice, grab your bottles today!
