Imbibe Header

Hello to all those who Imbibe,

ROMBAUER

CHARDONNAY

SHORTAGE

Some of you have noticed that over the past few weeks the amount of Rombauer Chardonnay has significantly decreased in shops around the valley.  Even we at Imbibe, who were used to selling 5 - 7 cases a week, have had our shipment dropped down to 3 cases per month.  Essentially, this is what happens when a producer slows distribution so that they don't run out of wine before the next vintage is ready to be released.  Just one of the fun facts in the wine world that keep it interesting.  It is in times like these that Imbibe is put to the task to find some alternatives that will keep you well stocked through the summer.  Check out these fine selections and swing in today to pick up a mixed case and see what works best for you!

2010 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay RRV -
 $17.91

Sonoma-Cutrer's flagship wine, the Russian River Ranches Chardonnay, is the number one selling Chardonnay in America's finest restaurants. This wine has nice aromas of minerality, wet stone and baked apples complimented with the fresh notes of citrus blossom, lemon-lime and a touch of honey.

SPECIAL SALE: $16.90 by the case.

2010 Sextant Chardonnay SLH - $28.99

Aromas of tropical flowers, guava and candied pineapple complement the white peach fragrance. Flavors of melon coconut and salted caramel are finished with beautiful French Oak. This Chardonnay is bold but well balanced and elegant.

2010 ZD Chardonnay - $29.99

Like many ZD Chardonnays, this wine is a joy to drink when young but will also age and develop beautifully for many years to come.  Aromas of pineapple, guava and pear mingle with hints of vanilla and orange blossoms. The palate is full bodied and rich with the perfect balance between fruit, oak and acidity.

2010 Frank Family Chardonnay - $31.99

Housed in the historic Larkmead Winery in Napa Valley, Frank Family Vineyards produces wines that live up to the heritage of the land on which they are produced.  Aromas of apple, pear, vanilla, caramel, orange blossom, quince & hazelnut explode from the glass. Rich and fresh on the palate, the wine exhibits bright fruit, lemon drop, baked apple pie, has a smooth and creamy mouthfeel and long finish.

2010 Cakebread Chardonnay - $39.99

Lush, concentrated and creamy on the palate, its ripe apple, melon, bright citrus and baking spice flavors culminate in a long, beautifully structured finish boasting crisp acidity and zesty mineral and spice tones. Sumptuous yet refreshing, Cakebread's 2010 Chardonnay is delicious now, but will handsomely reward another 3-5 years of bottle aging.

Until next time, keep pullin' those corks!

2011 Bieler Pere et Fils Rosé $10.99

Hailing from Provence, France, the land that some consider the pinnacle for Rosés, the 2011 Bieler Pere et Fils has been an instant success at Imbibe.  This bottling comes from the former owners of Château Routas and was produced as homage to Charles' father, Philippe.  Comprised of mainly Syrah, with the remaining balance made up of Grenache and Cabernet, this bottling is both beautifully rich and moderate in body.  This is truly Spring in a glass.  Touches of raspberry, wild strawberry and limey minerality lead way to a finish that is long and refreshing.

2011 Mulderbosch Rosé of Cabernet $10.99 While many folks haven't had the pleasure of enjoy the wines of South Africa, Imbibe is always ready to bring you up to speed on one of the great regions making waves in the world of wine.  A great example of this is the 2011 Mulderbosch Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon.  In the glass, the wine has an exciting pink color that almost has an orange tint.  With a little more unique terroir influence than many other Rosés, this one captures classic flavors of raspberry and strawberry, but mingles it with a touch of tart tangerine and lime notes.  Thoroughly thirst-quenching and a perfect pair with a strawberry balsamic and goat cheese salad.

NV Stella Pink Rosé Moscato $12.99

For those fans of the Stella Rosa and Moscato d'Asti from the Italian producer Il Conte d'Alba, we've got something new for Spring that will make you very happy.  Just in off the truck is the new Stella Pink Moscato.  Made to pair with warm nights and light fare, the Stella Pink is perfect for those that are just getting into wine or enjoy their vino with a slightly sweeter style.  With notes of ripe strawberry jam and watermelon jolly rancher, this is a wine that entices you glass after glass.  The only problem with this wine is that it's almost too easy to drink so be sure to stock up!

2011 Margerum  Rosé of Grenache $14.99

Doug Margerum is easily one of the best winemakers on the Central Coast and one that produces consistently great bottlings year after year. You may remember the Margerum name from our Top 100 List when his M5 Rhone Blend won us all over. Just in time for Spring, his Rose of Grenache is beautifully balance and simply a fun wine to drink. Hints of strawberry crème, lime zest and a pleasantly crisp finish make this one to stock up on.

2011 Fiddlehead Pink Fiddle Rose of Pinot Noir $20.99

We had the pleasure a couple of weeks ago to taste through the lineup of Fiddlehead wines with winemaker/owner Kathy Joseph.  Along with an amazing Sauvignon Blanc and some outstanding Pinot Noirs, we also brought in Kathy's very limited Rose of Pinot Noir.  Simply put as one of the best Roses we've ever enjoyed at Imbibe, this bottling is pure Provencal-style: clean, crisp and perfectly balanced.  Notes of watermelon, cherry and raspberry dance in the glass with a complexity and depth of flavors usually not seen in Roses.  Pick up a bottle today and learn why this is one to buy by the case.
