Imbibe Header

Hello to all those who Imbibe,

We'd love you to participate in one of our rare liquor tastings. Tickets are just about sold out for a Bourbon Tasting featuring the spirits of The Sazerac Company On Thursday, April 5th. That evening we will take over one of the conference rooms at the Four Points Sheraton and taste a fantastic lineup of Bourbons with Northern California's Sazerac Sales Representative, Dennis Tobin. $45 buys you a taste of six different spirits as well as hearty appetizers provided by The Bistro Restaurant. Special pricing will be available the night of the event on all Sazerac products available at Imbibe.

For those that don't know, The Sazerac Company is one of the world's finest spirit and liqueur distributors in the world and owns many brands like the coveted Pappy Van Winkle Bourbons, the Sazerac Rye Whiskies, and the Buffalo Trace Bourbons. With an ever expanding portfolio, this company has built a stellar brand. A great story begins a legend, and, in the case of the Sazerac Company, it all started with a drink.

Back in 1838 Antoine Peychaud, a Creole immigrant, ran a pharmacy in New Orleans' famed French Quarter. Afterhours, his friends would gather around his shop and enjoy late-night revelry as Antoine used his talents as an apothecary to mix cocktails. A favorite of his patrons was a combination of brandy, absinthe and a dash of bitters made from his own recipe. This cocktail would later be known as The Sazerac.

After the drink, there was a bar. A coffeehouse, as they called them back then, by the name of Sazerac popularized the drink, and in 1850 the drink was made official when owner Sewell Taylor began using solely Sazerac de Forge et Fils Brandy in the recipe. In 1869, a man by the name of Thomas Handy purchased the Sazerac Coffee House, began bottling the famed cocktail (then made with rye whiskey instead of brandy) and began acquiring and marketing a selection of different liquors. To this day. with it's vast portfolio of everything from whiskies and gins to cordials and liqueurs, The Sazerac Company is a must-know for those who enjoy creating and imbibing cocktails.
