Hello to all those who Imbibe,
Okay, I know what you are all going to say. Summer is past and the time for white wines is behind us, but I'm here to tell you about a winery whose whites are so delicious that it would be a crime to not drink them year-round.
Since 1975, Fred Brander has been making world-class Sauvignon Blanc, and Imbibe Wine & Spirits is happy to now be offering their selections. Now most folks think that Sauvignon Blanc is a simple grape meant only to act as a refreshing start to an evening or meal. The wines of Brander defy this logic.
2010 Brander Sauvignon Blanc Santa Ynez - $12.99
Even with the entry-tier of the line-up, the 2010 Santa Ynez bottling puts many to shame at half the price. Mainly estate fruit goes into the bottle and, with the benefit of a combination of cold tank and barrel fermentation, offers up crisp and clean notes of lemon zest, grapefruit and zippy acidity. This is the one to stock by the case!
2010 Brander Cuvee Natalie - $14.99
Brander's second entry is the 2010 Cuvee Natalie. Made up of a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris, this wine displays bright, zesty pineapple, creamy peach and an almost Alsacian freshness. Being subtly sweet allows this wine to work well with a group of friend or a variety of foods and yet retain an elegant balance.
2009 Brander Cuvee Nicolas - $24.99
For those that love the more classic, white Bordeaux style Sauvignon Blancs look no further than the Cuvee Nicolas. Made of 100% Estate Sauvignon Blanc, this wine receives sur-lie aging in 50% new French oak that adds richness and a beautifully silky texture. Try this out with creamy sauce dishes.
2009 Brander Au Naturel - $29.99
The piece-de-resistance of the Brander Sauvignon Blancs is the the 2009 Au Naturel. With the literal cream of the crop of Brander's estate fruit, this bottling is entirely hand-tended and aged solely in stainless steel to retain the truest varietal characteristics and showcase an unmatched complexity. This is easily one of the best Sauvignon Blancs around and one not to be missed.

Until next time, keep pullin' those corks!
