Great Cabs
at Great
Prices!

David

Hello To All Those Who Imbibe,

This week, I'd like to take an opportunity to thank everyone who showed  support for Imbibe by attending the great events we had in the past week.

The Scotch Tasting held at The Bistro on Tuesday sold out and was a great success.  Keep an eye out in the future for more amazing spirit events.  Our special thanks go out again to Chris and Ed who represent the Chieftain line of Single Malt Scotches, easily some of the best scotches coming into the States.  If you are a scotch drinker and haven't tried Chieftain's, today is the day.

Thanks also to the Cal State Bakersfield MBA Program for hosting such an amazing mixer Wednesday night.  The turnout was great and we got to meet a lot of good people.

Thanks to Bunky Spurling and Friends for such an amazing performace Friday Night in the winebar.  A great time was had by all.  If you haven't stopped in for our Tuesday, Friday or Saturday night music at Imbibe, you don't know what you're missing.

And finally, a most heartfelt thanks go out to Matt Meyer of Meyer Family Cellars for taking the time to come to Bakersfield and show off such a special lineup of wines at Bakersfield Country Club on Saturday night.  The food was very impressive, the wines were superb and the crowd was even better.  Thank you again to all who attended and we look forward to many other great events in the future.

Now for those looking for wine, be sure to check out the Cabernets that we're showcasing below.  These are some of the best Cabs for the money that I have tasted all year, and ones that should be purchased by the six-pack (if not case).  Great wines at amazing prices, can you ask for anything more?

Until next time, keep pulling corks!

- David

GREAT NEW CABS AT IMBIBE

2006 The Paring Red Blend - $26.99
The new vintage is out and it's even better than the last. Made up of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, this beautiful bottling shows alluring aromas of blackberry and cassis dominate at first on the nose, but soon give way to subtle notes of cedar, black olive, toasty oak, herbal nuances and an earthy/dusty complexity on the palate. The perfect marriage of Santa Ynez earthy notes, powerful north coast fruit, and classic cabernet complexity.

2009 Robert Craig Mt. George Cuvee - $26.99
This #2 on this year's Top 100 Wines of 2011 has sold out at Imbibe 6 times since it's release and with such a devoted response, we have pulled some strings to get another allocation.   In the glass, an abundant bouquet of dark red currant, vanilla and roasted coffee, with a subtle floral component. Only the palate, a well-balanced fresh, lush red cherry and cassis, followed by warm spice and café mocha.  If you have been so unlucky as to not get a bottle, stop in today before those that have buy the lot of it.

2007 Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignon - $59.99
Now we at Imbibe have been huge fans of Paradigm for just about as long as the winery has been around, but we were floored when we tasted the 2007 vintage.  Though 2007 was generally a very good year for many in Napa, somehow Paradigm seemed to get everything just extra right.  A beautiful bottle in perfect balance and definitely one to buy by the case.  If there is one wine that you buy this week, do yourself a favor and make it the 2007 Paradigm.
