Hello To All Those Who Imbibe,
Time again for an installment of Great Value Wines at Imbibe. We received several new offerings recently, and I wanted to be sure to let you know about them before they 're gone!
Our first two bottlings come from Ron and Jamie McManis, who have been producing amazing wine values since 1990. McManis Vineyards produces more grapes than needed for their wines, allowing them to choose prime lots before allocating others to be sold. You will find in each of these a beautifully balanced, easy-drinking, complex wine that can be enjoyed both on and off the table. If you are a fan of Zin and Cab, these two should be on your weekly list.

2009 McManis Zinfandel - $10.99
The 2009 McManis Family Vineyards Zinfandel has a bright hue and is deep purple in color. Scents of black raspberry and strawberry proliferate in the nose. Background notes of carmalized sugar and vanilla are also present. Rich, soft and creamy in the mouth; the sensations promised by the nose are delivered upon in the mouth. Berry flavors and hints of vanilla linger long after the wine is swallowed.

2009 McManis Cabernet Sauvignon - $10.99
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is purple-red in color, with a bright hue. The nose is filled with mocha, chocolate, and caramel contributed from oak aging. Blackberry and blueberry fruit are also evident. The round creamy mouthfeel is accompanied by red and black berry fruit flavors. The finish is a long pleasant combination of fruit and oak.

2009 Montoya Chardonnay - $11.99
The Montoya wines, two of which are carried at Imbibe, narrowly missed making our Top 100 Wines of 2011. This was because we were waiting for the release of their next vintage. I am happy to announce that the Chardonnay is in, and boy is it amazing. This is a Chardonnay that will appeal to those that appreciate balance and refinement, without the price tag. In the glass, subtle baking spice leads the way to fresh pineapple, lemon zest and hints of coconut and kiwi. This is all balanced by an elegant acidity that leaves the palate refreshed and makes you look forward to the sips to follow.

2009 Borsao Garnacha - $7.99
Our final offering this week is one known well to many Imbibers, the Borsao Garnacha has been a fan favorite since our opening in 2009. Since this bottle runs for only $7.99 a copy and drinks like a $25 bottle, you can understand why it's been difficult to pass by. On the nose there is a rich aroma of ripe berries with hints of floral tones typical of the Garnacha, a unique variety. In the mouth, it is a full-bodied rich wine with a taste of blackberries, strawberries and hints of leather, vanilla and plums. It is perfectly combined with a sweet and pleasant tannin that leads to a long, balanced and smooth finish. Take a page from the book of Imbibers in town and try out the new vintage of the Borsao Garnacha. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Until next time, keep pulling corks!
