 Wallet Friendly Wines

Hello To All Those Who Imbibe,
When you walk through the front door of Imbibe and enjoy the great atmosphere and chic decor, it's easy to forget that we've got the best selection of value wines under $20 in Bakersfield.
We take great pride in that fact that every wine that graces our sales floor is one that has been tasted and approved by our staff as a best value for the money. Our $10 wines drink like $20, and our $20 wines drink like $40. Last week we wrote about a few of the wines we drink regularly, you seemed to like the recommendations; we're happy to provide more. Here are a few more wines that we're very excited about. These are wines that find themselves on our dinner tables more often than not. Read more about these delicious wines below.
Don't miss an amazing line-up tonight for the Friday Night Flight. We will be looking back at the great vintage of 2003 and featuring wines from Shafer, Sloan and Harlan, along with a few others. There's been a great response to the Friday night flights in the past few weeks, and it's not unheard of to have bottles run dry by 6 o'clock. Get in early and snag a taste before they are gone for good.

Values from Everywhere
Stop in today and ask about these and other fine wines at remarkable prices. Prices are so low and the quality so high that we can easily recommend a few bottles of each.

2009 Le Jaja de Jau
Sauvignon Blanc $9.99
Top 100 # 92 - Now that the sun is starting to come out and the days are getting a little longer, the time has come for spring style wines. This lovely Sauvignon Blanc hails to us from the south of France, and is a beautiful representation of the varietal. This offering displays sweet grapefruit and lemon, and balances with a crisp minerality and zippy acidity. Drink this on its own or with a meal.
 2009 Broadside Chardonnay
James Berry Vineyard $17.91
This Chardonnay is made by long time friend and winemaker, Brian Terrizzi. His philosphy when making wine is to make reasonably priced wines that drink well and showcase California's winemaking ability. This bottle shows pineapple, lemon curd, subtle spice and a beautiful acidity. This particular offering is extra special in the fact that the fruit is sourced from the James Berry vineyard, a location considered to be Grand Cru quality land. For those familiar with the #1 on Wine Spectators Top 100 this year, you'll be happy to know this wine's origin is one and the same.

2009 Bodegas Borsao Garnacha $7.99
This bottle is for those folks that have yet to try and fall in love with Garnacha. For under $10, the Bodegas Borsao Garnacha is full of flavor, balanced and almost too easy to drink. In the glass, this wine showcases a perfect blend of black cherry, dusty cocoa powder and spicy black pepper. This wine that can be had by itself, but really comes into its own when paired with everything from burgers to steaks. If you end up falling for Grenache like we did, let us know and we'll show you our whole selection.

2006 Joseph Anthony
Cabernet Sauvignon Napa $12.91
This is a Cabernet that we have carried at the store on a number of occasions, but it has made it on the list because, not only is it one of the best values in Cab anywhere, it has also gained quite a large following. Loaded with blackberry, cinimmon and cassis, this wine is full of flavor and super smooth. Check this one out for your midweek drinker.

WINEMAKER DINNER
Meyer Family Cellars
at Bakersfield Country Club
Saturday, March 26th | 6 pm | $79
For the first time ever, Imbibe Wine & Spirits is proud to present the wines of Meyer Family Cellars and showcase their amazing portfolio paired with a spectacular five course meal prepared by Chef Fidencio Serrano of Bakersfield Country Club. We look forward to having you join us for what will be one of the premiere wine events of the year.
Since 1972, the Meyer family has been deeply involved in the California wine industry. Justin Meyer, co-founder of Silver Oak Cellars was committed for three decades to producing benchmark California Cabernet Sauvignon. In the mid 90's, Justin, his son Matt and the rest of the family founded Meyer Family Cellars. Matt grew up in the vineyards and cellar of Silver Oak Winery. The passion he developed for wine led him to the University of California, Davis, where he was awarded a Masters in Viticulture in 2002. Today Matt and his wife Karen run the day to day operations at Meyer Family Cellars, and are committed to producing some of the finest wine made in California.
