Wines We Like

DavidHello To All Those Who Imbibe,

I want to tell you about two wonderful wines I shared last weekend with friends. One of the wines I brought along was Provenance Sauvignon Blanc. Good friend Tom Rinaldi is the winemaker. Before joining Provenance Tom was winemaker at Duckhorn for more than twenty years, making one of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in America.  Yep, Tom has a pretty solid resume.

Provenance Sauv Blanc 2009

2009 Provenance

Sauvignon Blanc

This wine shows aromas of lemon-lime, floral notes and papaya nectar with a melon and ginger spice flavor. Great balance with a wonderful finish. One of my favorite white wines in the store. Winery Price is $22:

Imbibe  price  $16.99

d'aurilhac Chateau D'Aurilhac

Haut Medoc Bordeaux

I also brought along a bottle of 2005 Chateau D'Aurilhac from the Haut Medoc Region of Bordeaux. The wine is dense with a nose of crème de cassis, charcoal and spice box. The wine had lots of body and richness for a wine at this price. For those of you who don't know 2005 is an outstanding vintage for Bordeaux. Robert Parker called this wine "a sleeper of the vintage"and scored the wine 90/100.  We shared this wine over a great Rib-eye; I can only suggest that you do the same.I called around and found five cases and bought them for the store. We don't think you'll find a wine this deep, full-bodied with superb richness at twice the price.

$19.99 each

JoshHey from Josh,

With the New Year rolling along to a good start, we at Imbibe have started digging in and getting ready for the months to come.  To that end, I'd like to tell about a few great value wines that we've got going at Imbibe.

First off for you Chardonnay fans out there, we have we got something amazing for you. For  fans of reds, I've chosen two wine selections from Grayson Cellars. Enjoy!  And finally, a perennial favorite of the staff - the wine we drink at home.

Double T Chardonnay

2008 Double T Chardonnay

The 2008 Double T Chardonnay is the little sister in the Trefethen family of wine. Though not as rich as Trefethen, this lovely little drink is both complex, buttery, and full of tropical fruit and spice. This wine is a steal at

Imbibe's  price  $16.99

Grayson Cellars CabernetGrayson Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot

Both running for $9.99 a copy and touted by Robert Parker as one of these best values in wine today. These are certainly ones not to be missed.

$9.99 each

2009 Garnacha de Fuego

Old Vine

Garnacha de Fuego 2

Also, of note are some great values in the way of imports. One of our favorites around the store is the 2009 Garnacha de Fuego Old Vine. This wine is everything that Grenache should be, rich black cherry, floral violets, and deep black pepper spice. This wine does as well on the dinner table as it does on its own.

$7.99 bottle
