New Holiday Wines
at Imbibe |
Hello To All Those Who Imbibe,
I hope you all had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving; I know I sure did! Thanks to those who stopped by and enjoyed the music of Nashville's own Rodeo and Juliet, Chris and Jan Harris. I'm sure you walked away with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. We were honored to have them at Imbibe. For those of you that missed them, they have CDs available at their site The Adventures of Rodeo and Juliet. They put on a show that you do not want to miss, and we'll be sure to let you know next time they swing on through for a show.
We shared some delicious wines at our table with family over Thanksgiving. The first is the 2009 Starborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. This wine hails from the Marlborough district of the south island, an area that sets the world standard for crisp, bright Sauvignon Blanc. This particular wine is very approachable with layers of citrus and ripe tropical flavors of passion fruit, guava and kiwi. This is one to enjoy on its own or pair with almost any type of salad or white meat. Imbibe price $10.99.
The red we all enjoyed the most was the 2008 Four Vines Biker Zinfandel. Now don't go spreading it around, but this wine is so impressive that it made the cut for the upcoming Top 100 Wines of 2011. So good, in fact, that I couldn't wait until January to bring it int This Zinfandel does not pull its punches. Bursting with fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry, anise spice and hints of vanilla and black pepper, Biker received 93 points from Wine Spectator. All the fruit for this bottling comes from the west side of Paso Robles and is a blend of Dusi, Preston and Altavista vineyards. For those of you that don't know, these are the mother vineyards for Zinfandel in Paso. To help round things out, Four Vines has added a splash of Mourvedre for a little kick. I love this wine and you will too. Imbibe price $22.99
And last, but definitely not least, mark your calendar for this Wednesday, December 8th, for our Holiday Champagne Tasting with the House of Roederer. We will taste through the entire Roederer portfolio and finish off with the pièce de résistance, 2002 Cristal. You can enjoy the entire flight for $29 and be sure to make your reservations for some great appetizers made to pair by Moo Creamery for $10.
