Hello to All Those Who Imbibe,
Yes, I'm at the beach this week, but I've got staff who are looking for things to do, so I want to
tell you about two outstanding Cabernets that just arrived at Imbibe.
Many of you know that 2007 will go down in history as
one of California's finest vintages. Here are two outstanding wines that are great examples of the reason for the hype. You should be
trying these wines, even if I'm not here to share them with you.

These just in... 2007 Audelssa Cabernet
I first met winemaker Eric Bradley on a visit to Sonoma back in 2002. I knew then this is a special place and the wine worth pursuing. Short history: The Audelssa Estate is located on the Mayacamas Mountains at over 1200 feet of elevation. First planted in 1990 by Dan and Jeanne Schaefer, these 80 planted acres produced outstanding wines made by Richard Arrowood and his then assistant Erich Bradley. The second generation of Schaefers, Dan Jr. and Gloria asked Erich to become their winemaker in 2002 and with his help they learned they had two distinct soil types that span the acreage (rhyolite and basalt for all you geeks out there). The one thing they shared in common was a smooth, silky texture that is best expressed with the gentle approach taken by Erich and the entire Audelssa team. This wine is the highest quality from this estate to date. Loads of red and dark cherries, mocha and creamy French oak which is complemented by silky, refined tannins. I sold lots of this wine in Glendale for 45.00 a bottle. We made a great purchase and can offer you the wine for $29.99. The best buy in Cabernet in our store!!
2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet For those of you who don't know, Lyndenhurst is the second wine from Spottswoode. This is one of my favorite estates in all of Napa Valley. The 2007 Lyndenhurst is crafted in the same exacting manner as the Spottswoode Estate Cabernet. Lyndenhurst is created from select wine lots that are lovely and expressive.
Stunning aromatics of plum, butterscotch and coffee jump out of the glass. A rich palate of fresh dark berries, cherries and vanilla. This wine is seamless with a wonderful long finish. FYI the 2007 Spottswoode scored 99/100 by Robert Parker and this wine is not far behind and less than half the price. $54.99 |
