2008 DuMOL
Russian River Chardonnay Pinot Noir Syrah
|
Hello to all
those who Imbibe,
July is here, and though we may not hit 100 degrees in Bakersfield this weekend, what is very hot is the new release of 2008 DuMOL Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
and Syrah.
These are some of California's finest wines and the 2008's are
outstanding. Owner Kerry Murphy and winemaker Andy Smith are close friends and
they are very pleased with the new releases. I had a chance to try the wines on
a recent visit to DuMOLand I have to agree.
2008 DuMOL Russian
River Chardonnay $49.99 A blend of
four vineyards sites, consisting of the DuMOL Estate Vineyard, Searby
Vineyard (planted in 1974), the Dutton Ranch Vineyard and the Heintz Vineyard. The wine
shows great power and focus throughout with touches of nutmeg and clove.
Laser-like acidity takes this wine to a level that is very rare in America.
2008 DuMOL Russian
River Pinot Noir $59.99 A blend of
three vineyards sites: Terra di Promissio Vineyard, Sonoma Stage Vineyard and
DuMOL Estate vineyard. The wine has aromas of spring flowers with hints of violet and
allspice and notes of tea leaf. Loads of black raspberry, ripe plum and black
cherry cover your mouth with a touch of gaminess. This wine combines
concentration and elegance, which is what all great Pinot Noir is all about.
2008 DuMOL Russian River Syrah $53.99 This
wine comes from stunning cool climate vineyards; this is a great example
of California Syrah. The wine's inherent concentration is a product of the low
yields these vineyards produce. The grapes in 2008 ripened under cool
October skies to produce great fruit intensity. The wine has aromas of
violets, black pepper, blackberry and dried herbs. On the palate you will enjoy
the graphite, cassis and spicy licorice followed with deep blackberry
flavors.
Don't miss
these wines!! You will not taste better Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or Syrah in
America. All the wines of DuMOL are allocated upon release and very limited.

Think Pink! It's hot, so what better way to chill than with a nice, cold
glass of rosé? I'm not talking pink & sweet; I'm talking pink, fruity,
crisp & dry. Rosé is the perfect wine for summer al fresco dining. Check
out these selections at Imbibe. ~Deanna 2009 Mas
Carlot Rosé $9.99 "...gorgeous, loaded with wonderfully intermingled flavors of
strawberries and graced by hints of spring flowers and spice..." 2009 Grande
Cassagne Rosé $9.99 "...blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre from forty-plus
year old vines...an electric pink color, soaring aromatics and a fully dry palate..." Jean-Francois
Fayel Rosé $11.99 "...blend of 65% whole-berry crushed Cabernet Franc, 30% Syrah
and 5% Grenache...cherry notes and minerals...focused and racy with bright
acidity..." 2009 Muga
Rosado $12.99 "...60% Garnacha, 30% Viura, 10% Tempranillo...pink-colored with
a pretty nose of strawberry and rhubarb...dry, crisp, and tasty..."
2009 QUO
Grenache Rosé $10.99
"...intense strawberry color...fruity and fragrant... luscious
cherry and firm cranberry... crisp, lots of fresh berry fruit..."
2009
Lorenza Rose $17.99 "...blend of Mourvedre, Carignane, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah...light
salmon in color...cherry and rhubarb flavors with a touch of minerality on the
crisp finish..."

Great Beers in Stock Firestone PARABOLA | At
Last!
The first thirty guests at the Firestone Beer Tasting on July 15th will get to sample this fantastic stout. Call for your reservation today - $15 each.
Looks like a deep impenetrable black that pours thick and viscous with a small
sudsy head.
Smells like an oak forest with vanilla & earth. Sweet figs and currant are
noticeable then the vanilla takes over as the beer warms up. Taste is totally balanced , no one flavor over whelms the next. What a nice
change from most big releases. The flavor blend is oak, vanilla, bitter
espresso, fig and cherries.
Feel is rich, creamy and buttery but not heavy. This is a great beer but
unfortunately in very limited supply. We're saving the bottles we have left for our beer tasting on the 15th. Hope to see you there!
Triple Karmeliet $11.99 - 750
ml Still brewed to an authentic beer recipe
from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde. Written
over 300 years go, this recipe describes the use of three kinds of grain: wheat,
oats and barley. Voted Best Belgian Triple Ale in the world at the 2008 World
Beer Challenge, London England. This so good you have to try it to believe it. Five new brews from the Bruery:
ORCHARD WHITE $8.99 An unfiltered, bottle conditioned Belgian style wit bier. This
hazy, straw yellow beer is spiced with coriander, citrus peel and lavender
added to the boil. A spicy, fruity yeast strain is used to add complexity, and
rolled oats are added for a silky texture. SAISON RUE $13.50 An unfiltered, bottle conditioned Belgian-French style farmhouse
ale. This is a beer of complexity with malt rye, spicy
fruity notes, biscuit like malt backbone and a slight citrus hop character.
This is a beer meant to be aged and as with most Saison Rue is ambiguous unto
itself , as it is a different beer when fresh and when aged.
TRADE WINDS $10.99 A summer seasonal Belgian-style Golden Ale with a Southeast Asian
twist. Instead of using the normal candy style sugar ( which is typical) rice is
used in the mash to lighten the body and increase the gravity, and spiced with
Thai Basil. This is an aromatic beer digestible and complex made for the lazy
summer evenings. SAISON DE LENTE $10.50 A spring Saison that is light blonde in color with a fresh
hoppiness and a wild and rustic Brettanomyces character. Lighter in color than
the Saison Rue, yet equally complex in its own way. Perfect for warmer weather. COTON 2nd Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale $22.99 Pours a murky brown
with some red highlights and just the slightest bit of off white head.
Smell is lots of bourbon , caramel malts, toffee, dark fruits and some vanilla.
Tastes is also bourbon driven with vanilla that works very well with the base
bringing in brown sugar, toffee, plums and dark fruit. Mouth feel is full
bodied with light carbonation. This is also and age able brew that will only
gain complexity with age. Two new arrival from India:
YETI (lager) $3.25 A straw yellow with a nice aroma of honey,
yeast, banana, orange and grass. The taste is similar to the nose and the feel is light and a great match with Indian food. TAJ MAHAL $3.50 Pours a light gold with very little white froth. Aromas of banana,
honey, orange, grain, but smooth flavors of all the aromas throughout. This is
pretty much a malt profile lager with no hops to speak of.
