Imbibe newHello to all those who Imbibe,

Last week I told you about the incredible wines of Baton. We sold out quickly, but received more yesterday, so if you didn't get a call letting you know it's back in stock, here's your update. For those of you who have tried the wine, a little preaching to the choir follows. If you are still waiting to try this wine, let me just say this is the best purchase I've made at Imbibe since we opened the doors last March - and Lord knows we've purchased a lot of wine this last year.

So, on to this week's find. Last week I spoke with old friend Steve Beckner, who works for Eric Solomon Imports - in my opinion, one of the finest importers in the world. The wines hit the door this morning, and we're excited to share the details with you.

2007 El Perro Verde $9.99

El Perro Verde

Hitting lead-off  is a 100% Verdejo from 15 - 35 year old vines called El Perro Verde(yes, The Green Dog, I have no idea why). Made in stainless steel tanks, it shows some orchard fruits in the nose with a hint of tangerine. Once in the mouth you will enjoy some lime and orange zest with a mineral finish. This wine is ideal for spring and summer sipping.

Steve "I rarely score a wine 90"Tanzer scored this wine 90/100. Suggested retail is $17.99. We loaded up and can offer you the wine for$9.99.

2005 Mira Salinas $17.99

Mira Salinas

Second up is a repurchase of 2005 Mira,A blend of Monastrell, Cabernet and Garnacha with lots of new wood. It's deep crimson color draws you in and the palate has lots of black cherry and blueberry flavors that coat your tongue and lead into a smooth, long and pure finish.

We sold fifteen cases late last year. More finally landed in the warehouse and it's now on our floor. Robert Parker scored the wine 93/100. Suggest retail is $29.99; we're asking only $17.99.

2007 Ercavio Roble $11.99

Ercavio Roble

In the third hole is 2007 Ercavio Roble made of 100% Tempranillo and aged five months in French and American oak. The first thing you'll notice is the glass-coating opaque purple color. This wine delivers an expressive nose of cedar, black cherry and blackberry liqueur. Thick, dense and opulent, with gobs of black fruit, licorice and spice notes. You will not find more enjoyable wine at this price. Robert Parker says "It totally over-delivers for its humble price. This is one to buy by the case" . The Imbiber price is just $11.99.

2005 Tirecul Les Pins (500ml) $14.99

Les Pins

Hitting clean up is 2005 Tirecul Les Pins. Tirecul is a great sweet winemaking estate that produces inexpensive cuvees. A beautiful blend of 80% Semillon and 20% Muscadelle, with lots of honeyed nectarine, marmalade and crème brulee. We brought this wine in when we first opened and sold out quickly, only to find out that our wholesaler was sold out. Finally, more has landed and it is again on the floor. Les Pins is the best buy in Sauterne style wines in our store. Suggest retail is $25; Imbibe price $14.99.

Not that this wine needs any further pimping, but Parker gave it 90/100.
