Dan can hardly contain his glee at all of the new holiday brews and special release items coming into the store these last couple of weeks, so he asked me to send you an update right away. Below, Dan writes up a few of the new items in stock now at Imbibe.

Sam Adams Utopias Samuel Adams Utopias $229

This week's arrivals lead off with the most sought after and anticipated release this yea r with Samuel Adam's "UTOPIAS". Only 6 bottles made it to Bakersfield and Imbibe has 2 of them. This is one of those beyond belief beers, made to sip and enjoy over several hours. It is a blend of batches some having been aged for 16 years in a variety of woods. These special woods (Bourbon & Muscatel barrels) are the basis for this special aging process, which imparts flavors of vanilla , cinnamon  and maple. This unique process of using small casks adds a raisin like sweetness while sherry casks add a nutty, oaky and honey note. This is beer that is reminiscent of a deep rich vintage Port, fine Cognac or aged sherry. A beer made for cellaring, which will only add to the richness and depth, while rounding out the flavors. Utopias has a reputation of being a collector's brew and as such commands a collector's price. $229

 
Sierra Nevada Life & Limb Sierra Nevada Life & Limb $10.99

Another amazing brew arrived from Sierra Nevada - Life and Limb. This is a collaboration of Sierra Nevada and Dog Fish Head. (Dog Fish Head from Delaware is probably one of the most sought after breweries in the States. (So far I've not been able to get distribution to our neighborhood. Soon maybe.)  A unique and delicious flavor profile makes this an exceptional drink. Enhanced flavors are brought on by the maple and birch syrups added to the fermentation. This is a beer to be enjoyed in small portions with friends.  $10.99
 
Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale $3.49

A staff favorite, this nut brown is Smith's at their best. Here's a delicious nutty brew, much of the flavor coming from the Barley  malts used with additional nut flavors brought on by the small amounts of toasted barley that are added during fermentation.  Samuel Smith's are value driven, well crafted brews and available at IMBIBE $3.49
