Greetings!
Hello
to all those who like to Imbibe. Tami and I just got back from Napa for a long
needed R&R trip, and we've been paying the price for taking a day off all this week. I'm sure you've all been there...
Tasted lots of
great Napa Valley wines, but let's face it - they may make the best wines but surely
not the best values.
Walking around the store I came across what I think are the
best values currently at Imbibe Wine and Spirits. Here's a few of my selections for you to consider.
Until next time, keep pulling those
corks.

The husband and wife team of Niels and Bimmer Udsen established Castoro
Cellars with the goal of producing world-class wines from Paso
Robles-appellation grapes. Each vintage presents a new challenge and Niels is
more than willing to constantly and creatively experiment. This on-going research
is only one of the things that ensures they meet their goal.
Niels' long-time nickname, "Beaver", evolved further when he was
working in Italy and his friends soon took to calling him "Il
Castoro" which is beaver in Italian. The name and the motto stuck.
Castoro Cellars' "dam fine wines" sport a picture of a beaver on each
label.
For Castoro Cellars, 2006 was a near perfect growing vintage. The grapes had
great intensity and color. In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine
contains Petite Verdot and Merlot to add complexity. Packed with
rich berry and full fruit capped with a toasty oak note. The finish fills your
mouth with lush flavors that are not blown away with excessive tannin.
Winery price is
$14.95 | we sell it for only $9.99

2008 Verdant Circle Chardonnay
The best Chardonnay we have tasted under twenty
dollars this year.
This chardonnay was presented to us last week and we fell in
love! Made by a local Bakersfield family and farmed organically. The finished wine has a steely,
mineral structure with a backdrop of tropical fruit, citrus and peach flavors.
Extremely versatile; it pairs well with all with meats from chicken to fresh
halibut. A must-try wine! We have seen this on the internet as high as $16.99 but the
Imbibe price is only $12.99.

2006 Razor's Edge Shiraz
Hailing from
Australia, the
Razor's Edge Shiraz is dark purple in color, yet bright and appealing in its
clarity of fruit flavors, persisting on the finish against firm tannins. First
released with the 2004 vintage, Razor's Edge Shiraz led Wine Spectator's
Harvey Steimen to say "...in that under-$12 category I find I prefer what
the independent guys are doing with Shiraz, such as... Razor's Edge."
The
2005 made our Top 100 list and you can look for it again on our Top 100 list
for 2010 coming out in January. Imbibe's price is $10.99, and if you buy 6 or more
bottles we offer it for only $9.99. Try this wine before its all gone.

Wine Bar & Jazz Music - A Beautiful Match This weekend we will have the Big Dogs of 2006 Cabernet Flight at the wine bar. Many of the wines you may not
have heard of or seen because they are so limited.
I will say that the
2006 Lail is the wine of the vintage and that Mr.Parker was a bit light on his score of
95/100. I score the wine 97+. You can try it yourself this weekend.
And last, but certainly not least, join us in welcoming Steve Eisen, Mark Meyer and friends in the wine bar every Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. for live jazz entertainment. These guys are fantastic!
