ADVOCACY UPDATE - 2012

Ellyn Jeager

Mental Health America of Georgia

Director of Public Policy & Advocacy

August 8, 2012                                                                                                            Issue #17.2012

Because there is no health without Mental Health!

 BUDGET INSTRUCTIONS
Amended FY 2013 and FY2014

Governor Deal is asking state agencies to begin to prepare the Amended FY 2013 and FY2014 budget requests. Each agency, department, and authority must submit State General Funds reduction plans of 3% in both fiscal years. For FY 2014, the Department of Community Health has to submit an additional 2% reduction plan for Medicaid and Peachcare. Medicaid is already facing a $200 million shortfall for FY 2013.

The Aged, Blind, and Disabled Task Force is continuing to meet even though the process for Medicaid re-design has been put on hold. The Department of Community Health wants to keep moving forward with collecting data and asking for input from the task force members.
