Laurie Wellman donated 24 kayaks and paddles to Camp Anna Behrens. She and her family have fond memories of Camp Anna Behrens and wanted today's girls to create many more memories and enjoy the great outdoors! Thank you Laurie and family! |

The winter season is upon us - but we're certainly not slowing down! Our Girl Scouts are out and about, doing Take Action projects, participating in events, making new friends and much more! Plus...starting January 22 they'll be selling Girl Scout Cookies! And we don't want you to miss a thing! With this NEW monthly e-newsletter, you'll receive all the updates from the GSMISTS Team as well as great feature stories from our girls and volunteers! Look for it to hit your inbox the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Mark it on your calendar or let it be a surprise. Either way - you won't want to miss out on GSMISTS council news!

Girls Lend a Hand & Learn About True Beauty!
CAB Big Clean Weekend & Dove Self-Esteem Weekend
From taking down tents, to scrubbing floors to packing up bunks for the winter - these girls showed they had what it takes to make a difference.  On Oct. 22-24, over 40 girls and their families spent the weekend at Camp Anna Behrens helping prep the camp for its winter sleep! They worked hard and played hard (lots of S'mores!) and really worked together to make an impact. The camp looks great - thank you girls!
But the fun didn't stop there - on Saturday night, the girls participated in GSMISTS's celebration of the Dove Self-Esteem Weekend. As part of the festivities the girls created mini advertisements and a giant mural about what "True Beauty" meant to them! Such inspirational messages and great positive comments - our girls definitely know what True Beauty is about!
A great, empowering weekend, fun times and great memories! Way to go girls!

Girl Scouts gear up for the big Cookie Season!
We're getting ready to hit the ground running for our 2010-2011 Girl Scout Cookie Season! The season kicks off January 15 and sales begin on January 22. Join us at one of our Cookie Kickoffs to sign up to sell, get your materials and have fun! Girls can attend as a troop or with their families - open to all girls in troops and other pathways!
Girl Scout Cookie Kickoffs: Saturday, January 15, 2011 - 3 locations!
Grand Rapids: Celebration Cinema North (Wave Room)
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
2121 Celebration Drive NE, Grand Rapids
Come anytime between 10 AM & 12 PM and go through all of our stations! Afterward, you can pay just $5 to see a movie (free popcorn too!). We'll also be raffling off some great movie packages!
Spring Lake: Craig's Cruisers
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
1551 Pontaluna Road, Spring Lake
Come anytime between 11:30 AM & 1:30 PM and visit booths set up for our programming portion. We will provide Girl Scouts with tokens to play games!
Traverse City: Waters Edge Gymnastics
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
971 Lynch Drive, Traverse City
Come anytime between 11:30 AM & 1:30 PM and go through all our programming stations. After - go play! Waters Edge has trampolines, balance beams, bars and a big foam block pit. Water's Edge staff members are safety certified by USA Gymnastics and will be supervising the entire event.
