MMTalk  -  Issue: #17September | 2010
Greetings!

Spring has sprung. I hope the September Issue of 'MMTalk' finds you well.

In this issue we discuss the potential impacts of the newly elected minority Gillard Government.

We have seen the share market move above the 4600 level to it's highest point in 5 weeks although we are in that period (September & October) of the markets where history has shown the most corrections occur.  There is plenty of noise out there about the potential of a double dip recession in the USA and our market update this month looks at where we are and the view from an analyst in New York.  My view is that we still need to be cautious however we still have stable econmic numbers here in Australia which is good news for recovery and the global recession that we are being guided through.

Our new website is still on the way with an expected launch by the end of this month.  I feel like I have been learning a whole new language when it comes to coding and development, almost the same as learning any new skill!  Like money there is plenty of expert lingo out there where are fly over your head if you are not exposed to it every day!

Hope you enjoy this months newsletter any reflections or feedback please contact me.

All the best,

Scott

Financial Life Planning
Your personal definition of wealth

Some are very clear on what they want in life.  While others can be a little more carefree in nature and have only sort of an idea of where they are heading.  Then there are those who the thought of planning is not even on their radar.

No matter where you are at, my money challenge for you this month is to take a moment to think about what 'wealth' or 'financial independence' means to you and create your definition.

Gillard Government
Implications of a minority ALP Government

The re-election of a minority Australian Labor Party (ALP) will have a number of consequences for our money including proposed changes to the tax, superannuation and Government support payments.

This month we look at the impacts of the Labor Party's election promises, be mindful that these are just the promises at this stage and still have to go through the parliamentry process.  With a minority Government in place there will most likely be a lot of tinkering to these promises and we will keep you posted as information comes to hand.

Market Update
The Month That Was.. August 2010

In August we have seen the ASX300 Accumulation Index fall 1.1% with the reporting season the key driver of returns. The key theme out of reporting season was an improvement in retail performance as well as positive outlooks from selected contractors.  Outside the reporting season the Australian federal government election was a key focus domestically.

This months update details the factors at play in the Australian Market along with the effect the rest of the world namely the US and Chindia (China and India) are having on our markets.
