As you enjoy this Thanksgiving weekend, and especially the shopping, keep in mind the St. Cuthbert Christmas Outreach project.
St. Cuthbert will be collecting toys and food for the Mission of Yahweh. The Mission of Yahweh, located at 10247 Algiers in northwest Houston, is a faith-based shelter that empowers, enriches and restores the lives of homeless women and children and provides outreach services to low-income families in the neighborhood.
On Saturday, December 18, the Mission will give a stuffed animal and a gift to children of low-income families in a nine zip-code area, as well as food for Christmas Dinner to each family. In 2009, the Mission gave out gifts and stuffed animals to 1142 children and food for Christmas Dinner to 500 families!
You can build the kingdom of God by helping the Mission provide gifts and food this Christmas. Here's how you can help:
Donate a new gift for a child (between $10 and $15 value), wrap it, but please don't use bows. Label the gift with an age range and gender, if appropriate. Label dolls with their ethnicity.
OR:
Donate a new stuffed animal. There's no need to wrap it
OR:
Provide any of the following items:
Frozen Turkey Canned Green Beans
Stuffing Mix Canned Corn
Instant Potatoes Canned Yams or Sweet Potatoes

OR:

The deadline for collection is Monday, December 13.
