Save the dateDon't forget our fifth Annual Meeting at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center on November 10, 2009 at 7 p.m.
Our special guest will be Jaime Correa, who was the lead architect of the Citizens' Master Plan 2005.  He will tour our city and see all of the great changes we have made following his vision of what our city could become after the visit from Hurricane Charley.
We will have an exciting raffle of a $3,000 facial rejuvenation donated by Dr. Robert Watine. Additional raffle items are a two-night stay for two at the Wyvern Hotel, two tickets to the Fifth Annual Wine and Jazz Festival, a dinner for two at Santhinos FamilyRestaurant, and one cooking class at Pies and Plates.
Join us for an informative and fun evening.

South County Gateway Project
by Bill Welsch
It's all about first impressions. No matter how "cool" our community is, if the first thing people see when they drive into town is less than "cool," we have a problem.
We at TEAM Punta Gorda have been working with our partners in Charlotte County and the City of Punta Gorda to establish a special kind of zoning called an 'overlay' which will provide guidelines for what the main South County entrances to our community should look like, including architecture, signage and landscaping.
County Growth Management Director, Jeff Ruggieri, and City Growth Management Director, Dennis Murphy, are hard at work making the South County Gateway Project happen and we have pledged to assist them any way we can.
We'll keep you posted on this exciting project.

Interactive Fountain Plantings

interactive fountain trees Suzanne McCormick has been working so hard selling pavers for around the fountain and now has headed the beautification project to add shade to the area. The money raised from the sale of the pavers has made it possible to purchase plants from Powells Nursery, and Tony Sanchez and Noe Raimerez helped to plant them. Joan LeBeau and Mitchell Austin, from the City of Punta Gorda, gave moral support. "We are very excited about our partnership with TEAM Punta Gorda on projects of this kind," commented Dennis Murphy, City Director of Growth Management. "The truth is, in the current economy, we simply could not afford to proceed with beautification projects of this type without TEAM's assistance." We should all be proud, and thank Suzanne for all her work.
