Greetings!,

How could I let February get by without a nod to Valentine's Day?  It's love-love-love all month long and a shopper's paradise for all things chocolate, flowery, stuffed & furry, pink or red.  If you're celebrating romance this month, enjoy!

I'd also like to propose taking a broader view of this holiday.

Last month I taught a great group of people how to practice Pan Gu Shengong Mystical Qigong for better health, energy, and peace of mind.  Pan Gu Shengong is based on a philosophy that views kindness and love as the basis for both individual and world healing.

As we witness the immense losses in Haiti, as well as the pressing need in many other parts of the world and at home, I invite you to offer love or kindness in any form to someone who needs it.  The chemistry of love is healing for the giver as well as the receiver, so you'll also be giving a gift to yourself.

To tap into the energy of your heart more easily, please join me for a Chakra Tai Chi workhop on February 24 at East West Living in NYC.

And if a health concern is weighing on your heart, I invite you to set up a free consultation and find out how you can ease into health in the year ahead.

Happy Valentine's Day, and have a wonderful month!

Warmly,
Donna

Find Your Balance with Chakra Tai Chi:
An Introduction to Process Acupressure

chakras purple background

Date:  Wednesday, February 24
Time:  7:00-8:30 PM
Place: East West Living (78 Fifth Avenue @ 14th Street) in the upstairs cafe
Cost: $10

In this workshop I will review the vital energies of the chakra system and teach you the empowering practice of Chakra Tai Chi.  I will also offer an introduction to Process Acupressure, explain how it is unique from acupuncture and other forms of acupressure, and give you basic self-care techniques to use at home.

Chakra Tai Chi
is an easy to perform self-care practice that allows you to experience the energy of your own chakras through movement. It is a wonderful tool for balancing the chakras, releasing energetic blockages, centering or grounding yourself, and empowering your own personal growth or healing process. The movements are simple and require no special athletic ability or extensive time commitment. Chakra Tai Chi offers you a way achieve a deeper awareness and understanding of your own energy system and to take a more active role in your own health and healing.

Chakra Tai Chi was developed out of Process Acupressure, a hands-on form of bodywork in which specific acupoint combinations are held with a special style of touch that connects both the structure and energy of the body at once, to address many chronic or acute health conditions. This is a "whole-being" modality that facilitates awareness in the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

SOUL FOOD

Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.

38 Tower Lights by KannonnThink for a moment of a food from your past, one that makes you feel great after you eat it for no specific reason. Maybe it is macaroni and cheese, slow-simmered tomato sauce, ice cream cones or potato pancakes. Eating comfort foods (every now and then) can be incredibly healing, even though your rational brain might not consider it highly nutritious.

Food has the power to impact us on a level deeper than just our physical well-being. What we eat can reconnect us to precious memories, like childhood playtimes, first dates, holidays, our grandmother's cooking or our culture of ancestry. Our bodies remember foods from the past on an emotional and cellular level. Eating this food connects us to our roots and has nurturing effects that go far beyond the food's biochemical make-up.

Acknowledging what different foods mean to us is an important part of cultivating a good relationship with food. This month, as we celebrate loving relationships, it's good to notice that we each have a relationship with food--and that this relationship can sometimes be far from loving. Many of us restrict food, attempting to control our weight. We often abuse food, substituting it for emotional well-being. Others ignore food, swallowing it whole before we've even tasted it.

What would your life be like if you treated food and your body as you would treat your beloved - with gentleness, playfulness, communication, honesty, respect and love? The next time you eat your soul food, do so with awareness and without guilt, and enjoy all the healing and nourishment it brings you.
