Blossom Festival
Hood River, Oregon
April 17-18, 2010 |

More than 15,000 acres of fruit trees in Oregon's scenic Hood River Valley burst into bloom in April, just in time for the 56th Annual Hood River Valley Blossom Festival.
The scenic and fertile Hood River Valley, spanning from the north slope of Mount Hood to the south shore of the Columbia River Gorge, is the largest pear-growing region in Oregon, producing 50% of the nation's winter pear crop. The Hood River Valley Blossom Festival, celebrates the arrival of Spring and the beginning of a new growing season for this important agricultural area.
Its a perfect time to come out and enjoy the scenic 45 mile Fruit Loop drive. In addition to our BBQ and Dessert Party, you'll find quilt shows, arts & crafts and lots of good old fashioned family fun. For more information, contact the Hood River Chamber of Commerce and the Hood River Fruit Loop. |
2010 EVENT CALENDAR
Each year we hold several special events -- from Cherry Days in July and Gravenstein Apple Days in August to our Labor Day Peach celebration and finally our Heirloom Apple Butter Festival in October, each month brings at least one celebration honoring the seasonal harvest. These special event weekends highlight our old fashioned country BBQ, featuring cherry wood smoked ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken or bratwurst, with a choice of sides including our homemade Pear Coleslaw and Apple Cider Baked Beans. In addition, our bakery gears up to offer an even larger variety of baked pies (and frozen u-bake pies), cobblers and crisps, along with fruit milkshakes. For more information, visit our 2010 calendar of events. |

CELEBRATE MOTHER'S DAY - May 9th
Mother's day is the day we show Mom how special she is. Have you thought about how you'll celebrate? One way is to plan a menu for the entire day so she won't have to step in the kitchen. There's a lot of great menu ideas on the web and one interesting one I discovered was
offering some menu ideas for that big day, starting with cinnamon French toast and spiced bacon twists, almond tea, to roasted broccoli, garlic rice, caesar salad, spinach and strawberry salad (one of my favorites) beer chicken, and more. And for a quick dessert, pick up one of our frozen pies to take home and bake or bring mom in for a some pie a la mode.
