Greetings!
Don

Happy New Year to you and your family.  I hope you are enjoying the useasonably warm weather as much as I am.  We are looking forward to another year with you, and wish you peace and prosperity.

There's a Mouse in the House!

Cold weather means that little furry creatures will look for a warm place to live - like your home.  These could be mice, rats, squirrels, and chipmunks, to name a few.  You may see the critters, but more often you hear them and you see evidence of them - such a shredded carpet and paper, holes, and droppings.  Critters are destructive to property (the house and your stuff), can carry disease, can bite, will eat your food, and procreate like crazy.  What can you do?  Here are some tips for getting rid of the unwelcome guests - and keeping them out.  As always, we have found a good article on the subject.

  • Locate entry holes and cover them - Holes may be found near doors, under exterior siding, at the roof line, under the gutter.  Inspect your house well.  Rodents can squeeze through the tiniest holes.
  • Set traps - Traps are effective and clean.  Do not set traps where children will play with them.
  • Poison bait - Bait can be effective, but can also be dangerous to the handler (you) and others in the house (children).
  • Put food and trash away - Secure stored food in glass jars, clean up floors and countertops. Take trash out of the house on a very regular basis.  Food and trash are food sources for rodents.
  • Getting rid of dead rodents - Always wear gloves.  Clean any contaminated areas with bleach.  Seal the dead rodent in a plastic bag - and then seal it again in another plastic bag - and place in the trash.  Do not let children or pets handle or play with dead rodents.
REMINDER - No Cash Policy

Don't forget that effective this month, we will no longer accept cash payments.

Winter Is Here - Stay Warm

Winter is here and drafty windows and doors not only make you uncomfortable, but also cause high energy bills.  What can you do?

  • Plastic Window Covers - Quick and easy with minimal mess.  Kits can be found at most hardware stores.  Plastic shrinks to fit your window with the help of a hairdryer.
  • Insulate doors from the bottom - Insulation can be as easy as a rolled up towel, or you can purchase self-adhesive strips.
  • Insulate around the door - Rolls of self-adhesive insulation strips can be purchased from most hardware stores and installed.

The good news is, with a relatively small investment, you can make a difference in your comfort and your energy bills.

As always, we appreciate your partnership.

Sincerely,

Chris Garner
