| Daylight Saving Time - Fall Back and Change Batteries and Filters!
|
The leaves are falling, kids are back to school and we are breaking out the jackets. It's time to get our homes ready for colder weather. We have prepared a checklist of household items that need your attention every 6 months. A good way to remember is to do it at the same time as Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time is coming up on Sunday, November 6.
- Change the batteries in your thermostat - Keeping your batteries fresh will help you to regulate the heat and air conditioning in your home, thereby saving you money.
- Change the furnace filter - Dust and dirt builds up on your furnace filter. Changing the filter regularly keeps the heat and air conditioning flowing freely, keeps down the dust on surfaces of your home, and decreases the flow of allergens.
- Change smoke detector batteries - It's a matter of life and death. 'nuff said.
- Clear all vents - Be sure that all heat and return vents are free from blockages so that the heat can be disbursed evenly around the home in the colder months.

If you do not have access to the Tenant Portal yet, click the SIGN UP button on the Tenant Portal.

| Power to the People! |
You're cooking in the kitchen or fixing your hair in the bathroom when all of a sudden the power goes out. What do you do? Did you know that there are special outlets in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room called GFCI outlets and they are required in areas where there is water to protect you from electrical shock.
GFCI outlets look different because they have 2 buttons on them - Test and Reset. They are unique because if there is an imbalance in the amount of current, they trip the circuit which could leave you in the dark. It could be caused by the presence of water or faulty appliances. The best thing to do is to remove the appliance that is plugged into the outlet and reset the outlet.
You can reset the outlet yourself, and it's really easy.
To reset the outlet: Press the RESET button. Voila!!
