Am I In The Right Business?

If you ever needed validation that you were in the right business, here it is.  Check out this article we found in USA Today which discusses the number of Tenant Occupied Properties v. Owner Occupied Properties.  We can boil it down for you into three points:  1. Nationally, 34.9% of occupied homes were rented in 2010 compared with 33.8% in 2000, according to Census data; 2. In Detroit, 48.9% of occupied homes were rented in 2010 compared with 45.1% in 2000; and 3. In Phoenix, 42.4% of occupied homes were rented in 2010 compared with 39.3 in 2000.  In a nutshell, you are in the right business and we are happy to help you prosper!

Reviewing the Fair Housing Laws

Below is a brief overview of the Fair Housing Laws that we abide by.  For full coverage, click here.

"The Fair Housing Act (aka Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968), as amended, prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status (including children under the age of 18 living with parents or legal custodians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18), and handicap (disability)."

We display the Equal Housing Opportunity logo and take our responsibilities seriously.  To read an informative artilce on rights and responsibilities associated with Fair Housing, click here.

Repair or Replace?

You receive a Work Order for a dishwasher that is on the fritz ... again.  Should you authorize a repair, or should you bite the bullet and replace it?  It's not always easy to decide to take the plunge and buy big ticket items for your investment property, but sometimes you save more money in the long run by doing so.  See the attached article from Energy Star and from This Old House.

June is the month to remember Dads and Grads.  As always, we appreciate your partnership.

Sincerely,

Chris Garner
