February is a busy month at Garner Properties. We have been answering winter-related maintenance calls. But, we have some good news for you - Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this year on Groundhog Day and that signals an early Spring! February also brings the first deadline for filing Property Tax Appeals in the City fo Detroit. If you have property in the City of Detroit and have not contacted us about filing an appeal on your behalf, please do not delay (see the article below). |

The first deadline for Property Tax Appeals for the City of Detroit is February 15. Call today to get started. The appeal process can, in some cases, take years to complete, so don't delay. The cost of the program is $475 per property plus 25% of the refund amount and will be handled by The Law Offices of Aaron D. Cox, PLLC. The complete program will take care of the entire process, including Broker Price Opinions (BPO's), fees, filings, and appearances before the Board of Review and Small Claims Division of the Michigan Tax Tribunal. To get started, we will need your notice of assessment, a copy of the deed for the property, a copy of any appraisal done in the last year, and brief notes on any special items related to the property. Call us today at 800-767-2386.

We are always keeping our eyes on stories that make Real Estate news in Southeast Michigan. This recent article in the Detroit News about major land owners in Detroit that may influence Mayor Bing's "Detroit Works Project" caught our eye. Of course, we are in favor of anything or anyone who will drive up property values in Detroit. We are keeping our eye on these "Land Barons" as well as the "Detroit Works Project". |
