Are you looking for experiential learning approaches that
engage even those hard to reach students? Florida Agriculture in the Classroom is the answer. It
offers curricula free of charge to teachers who attend training workshops. The
curricula, "Project Food, Land and People" for kindergarten through
12th grade and "Keeping Florida Green" for middle and
high school, is interdisciplinary, interactive, correlated to Sunshine State
Standards, includes practice pre- and post-tests tailored to the FCAT and provides
a summer workshop to train teachers in the curricula.
Florida Agriculture in the Classroom's 2010 State
Teacher and Volunteer Workshop "Serving up Florida Agriculture Education"
is scheduled for June 17-19 at the TradeWinds Beach Resort on St. Petersburg Beach.
Teachers who share a room with another teacher attending the workshop pay only
$170, which covers two nights lodging, most meals and materials. In addition,
teachers who attend are eligible for professional development points. For more
