Agriculture Industry Volunteers invited to read for Ag Lit Day
 
Resized Green Fl Farms Cover      Farmers, growers, ranchers, FFA teachers and students, University of Florida IFAS extension and 4-H agents, Farm Bureau members, Cattlemen and Cattlewomen and other agriculture industry representatives are invited to read for Florida Agriculture Literacy Day scheduled for Tuesday March 23.
     A new book has been developed for this year's event called "Green Florida Farms." The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Division of Marketing's Gary Seamans and Michael Wright wrote and illustrated it. It teaches students about the environmental contributions Florida farmers make to the state.

Volunteer Grant Deadline set for March 12

 Florida agriculture industry volunteers who have a project that teaches students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade about the importance of Florida agriculture are eligible to apply. AgVenture field trips, Arbor Day programs and other efforts have been funded with Florida Agriculture in the Classroom volunteer grant money in the past.  Volunteers invited to "Serve Up" Florida Agriculture Education at Workshop

2010 SW logo Agriculture industry volunteers can learn fun, new activities that teach students about the Florida agriculture while enjoying a beachfront resort this summer. Florida Agriculture in the Classroom has scheduled its 2010 State Teacher and Volunteer Workshop for June 17-19 at the TradeWinds Beach Resort on St. Petersburg Beach.
