It's been a busy summer - why does the time fly so quickly? My daughters and I have been trying to do as much as we can - the Fringe Festival, Farmers Markets to name a couple of things but just couldn't get to it all!

Now that September is almost here it's time to think about getting back into routines. But also remember that there is still lots to get out and enjoy.

Amaze In Corn is again open for the season and is sure to provide your family with lots of fun. Visit them at www.cornmaze.ca

Sage Garden Herbs has re-opened after their August heat wave closure. Time to start thinking about planting fall perennials and wintering your lavender plants. Their Harvest Hoe Down takes place on September 19th - check out their website at www.herbs.mb.ca

Nothing beats fresh produce and home made goodies. Farmers Markets abound in Manitoba and are a fantastic source for everything " right from the producer". Go to The Manitoba Farmers Market Association website ( see sidebar on the left) to find a market near you. If you're in Winnipeg, also Visit Cramptons at Waverley and Bishop Grandin - www.cramptonsmarket.blogspot.com and Jardin St Leon on St. Mary's Road - two of our favorite places to visit.

raku
Recently I was packaging up a large order of Raku Tiles for a local conference. As I was wrapping each tile in tissue, it occurred to me that even though these were produced "en masse", they were each so very different. I started looking at the intracies of each tile, the difference in the glazing and the colors and I was in awe. Gary, Diane and Alana of Northern Lights Studios are truly amazing artists and I am proud to represent their products. Their Raku tiles make unique gifts for conferences and out of town guests - business or personal. Visit our website to see our selection.

Winnipeg has an amazing number of superb bakeries. Cake-oloy is fairly new on the scene. I had the pleasure of offering their amazing gingerbread cookies in my gift baskets at Christmas after seeing them at The Festival of Trees and Lights. They have recently opened up shop in the Exchange District and their cookies and cupcakes are a must have. Visit them at www.cake-ology.ca

Another favorite is Chocolate Zen Bakery located on Osborne. Delicious cakes, tortes cookies ( try the Java Sticks) and much more! Also visit their recent addition - Joe Blacks Coffee House located at 2037 Portage Avenue.www.joeblackcoffee.ca

My all time favorite continues to Bread & Circuses Bakery Cafe on Lilac Avenue. Cinnamon buns, muffins, cookies and a variety of breads made with flour ground on the premises are just a few favorites. Let's not forget the Big Top Turkey sandwich! Visit them soon for some homemade goodness.

Art Among Friends sets of art cards are available by contacting Community Living Winnipeg.

Community Living Winnipeg will be holding their Fall for Fashion Fundraiser on Friday September 10. For more information and to purchase tickets contact them at: 786-1414

Remember to support local business and local producers - we all benefit.

Sincerely,
