Well I made it through the Christmas Rush - which is pretty much all of December, and January was suprisingly busy as well. I hope this is a sign of good things to come! The online shopping cart on the website was quite busy this Christmas and continues to be a useful tool. It's still great to get phone orders though -it's great to talk to the person at the other end!

There is so much happening in the next week! Our celebration of winter in Winnipeg, The Festival Du Voyageur is ready to kick off on February 12th. With the mild weather still here get out and enjoy this cultural festival.

Seedy Saturday takes places at Fort Whyte on Saturday February 13th. If you are itching to start seeing things that are green - this may be the year to start your own seeds inside. Come on out for a bounty of information, new products and of course - seeds! Visit www.friend sconservatory.com for more information.

I had the opportunity to see the Olympic Torch twice when it came through Manitoba and it was an amazing event! It will likely be a once in a lifetime thing and I'm so glad that we were there to take part in the the energy and the Canadian pride. Even though I'm the armchair athlete kind of person - I have my favorite Olympic events that I will be watching. What about you - Do You Believe??

With Manitoba Merv prediciting an early spring - let's get out and enjoy the events in our communities!

Whether you are near or far - a gift basket from The Mulberry Tree will be the perfect gift to celebrate Valentines Day or any special day!

Our Coffee and Chocolate Lovers Basket or The Ultimate Chocolate Extravaganza are always popular. Full of wonderful goodies from Manitoba and beyond, these baskets are sure to please.

Cranberry Fields Forever is my favorite basket for any reason! This gift celebrates everything Cranberry - from amazing Cranberry Honey from The JohnRussell Honey Company to decadent white chocolate covered popcorn with cranberries. We even include a cranberry recipe book so that once the goodies in the basket are gone, you can make your own.

Organic Kitchen, Sweet & Savory, Au Naturel and others should fit the bill. If you don't find something on the website that suits your needs, dont' hesitate to call or e-mail!

Dana McCauley of Toronto, a freelance foodwriter from Toronto lists what she see as the top Food and Drink trends for 2010. One trend that she mentions is the "Recognition of Local Superfoods". Instead of turning to the fruits of the Amazon, local nutrient powerhouses will get the respect they deserve. In Manitoba that would mean blueberries, raspberries, saskatoons, pulse crops, flax, hemp and oats. These are some products that may carry many health benefits, are easily accessible and locally grown. Visit Manitoba agricultures website for the Food Products Directory. www. web2.gov.mb.ca/agriculture/fpd/index.php

Art Among Friends - an initiative of Community Living Winnipeg, has their Art Cards for sale. This is a set of 8 cards that are copies of art done by students in inclusive art classes. The cards will also be on display and for sale at the "Yes I Can" Awards sponsored by Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children www.manitobacec. ca

Remember to support local business and local producers - we all benefit.
