Dear Friend:

As Mother's Day (May 13) and Father's Day (June 17) approaches, it's time to say "Thanks for the memories, Mom and Dad!"

You can actually give your parents your memories with the gift of a homemade memory jar. Here's how:

1) Find a nice or creative container such as a mason jar. (For instance, my Dad taught me how to play tennis, so I could make his memory jar an empty tennis ball can.)

2) Personalize it. Attach a family photo on the inside (facing out of a glass jar) or make a "memory jar" label to affix to the front.

3) Stuff the jar with handwritten sticky notes or torn sheets of paper and anything that will "jar" your mom's or dad's memories of special memories and past times shared together.

4) Present the jar to your mom and/or dad and watch them open it to share the memories. Not together? That's okay. Simply mail it like you would a box of chocolates or bouquet of flowers. Only this gift will last forever and keeps on giving!

Happy Mother's and Father's Day,
