Dear Friend: A brand new season is practically here. It's time to enjoy the sunshine, warmer weather, outdoors and maybe do a little bit of spring cleaning, too! So, in this month's issue of Home Caretoday, I invite you to check out our new "Spring Cleaning Special" -- one of our new Silver Platter Services. These are single-visit home care packages designed to help you or your loved one make the most of living at home with ease. We can help you rise and shine to a wonderful new day or tuck you in safe and sound for the evening with lots of extra great services in between. Best of all, we've made these services affordable for those who just want a little extra help during the week without breaking the bank! Since being a resource to our community is important to us, we want to introduce you to another wonderful resource for seniors. It's the Gwinnett Council for Seniors, a one-stop information shop for Gwinnett County's seniors and their families. Read all about it and the visionary woman who heads it up in this month's issue. Finally, I want to remind you that AHCS is franchising. We are looking for compassionate entrepreneurs to join our family. If you see yourself as someone running your own successful business and have management or health care experience, this might be the right time and opportunity for you...So, make sure to read about this limited time opportunity below. Be well! Sharna Fulton, Director of Marketing

Meet Rosalind Bennett, the ambassador of information for Gwinnett's growing baby boomer and senior population.
Perhaps you've recently retired to Gwinnett County and want to find out what activities, clubs and classes are available for you. Maybe you have a mother with Alzheimer's and you're looking for information and support. In either case, you'll want to stop by the downtown Lawrenceville, GA headquarters of the Gwinnett Council for Seniors.
When you do, there's a good chance you'll meet Rosalind Bennett, Information Director for the Council and Treasurer of their Board of Directors.
A former banker and Executive Director with Avon for 28 years, Ms. Bennett found "the Council" herself a few years ago. Having taken care of her ailing mom for nearly a year prior, she was looking for volunteer opportunities with a senior organization when she came upon the Gwinnett Council for Seniors.
"I believe that information is power," explains Bennett. "Having been in that sandwich generation while raising teenagers, caring for my own parents and working a corporate job, I wish I'd known about it like I do now. After all, you're really only as strong and capable as the information you have," she adds.
Which is why you'll find Ms. Bennett or one of her 20 volunteers ready and willing to provide information on any given day in downtown Lawrenceville, GA.
Wanting to take a computer class? Ms. Bennett has a brochure for that. Needing a senior day care program close to home. Just ask "Ros."
The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization is located in the Brown Building on the corner of Pike and South Perry. It's easy to get to and wheel chair accessible.
In addition to being a one-stop information shop, the Council advocates for seniors and their needs to Gwinnett County Government. It also plays host to 34 senior clubs, many who hold meetings there each month. As a member, each club pays 15.00 per year to come to monthly meetings, have a free lunch and meet with friends and associates.
Corporate memberships support the Council as well with levels of 100.00, 200.00 and 500.00.
For a 200.00 level, businesses that cater to seniors can become a member and also participate in the upcoming Lifestyle Showcase on April 21 from 10-1:30 p.m. The Showcase is free to seniors and provides an opportunity for both clubs and businesses to connect with seniors in Gwinnett.
