U.S. Small Business Administration SBA Emerging 200 Program
What is the goal of this initiative?
The goal of the SBA Emerging 200 program is to identify small businesses across the country that show a high potential for growth-and to provide them the network, resources and motivation required to build a sustainable business of size and scale.
What are the criteria for a business to participate in e200?
The business must:
· Have been established for at least three (3) years. This is not for start-up companies.
· Urban businesses' annual revenue must be between $400,000 and $10 million per year.
· Native American businesses' annual revenue must be between $300,000 and $10 million per year.
· Have employees. (i.e. at least one employee besides the CEO participant).
· Be represented by the key decision maker of the qualified business (i.e. CEO, owner, president)
What are some of the benefits of participation?
These small businesses will move to the next level on their growth trajectory. The training will facility them emerge as growing, self-sustaining businesses creating jobs in their communities. This also serves as a portal for them to access other SBA programs and services.
What is the timeframe for the SBA e200 program?
The educational program will begin in April 2011 and end in November 2011. Commencements are at the end of the educational program in November 2011.
How much time will entrepreneurs need to commit to the program?
Entrepreneurs will be in class for 40 hours of instruction time, divided over 13 class sessions. They will also spend at least 12 hours in self-directed CEO Mentoring Groups. Out-of-class self-paced learning commitment time will be at least 40 hours. The average time out-of-class time commitment is three hours for each class.
This comprehensive training is available at no cost to entrepreneurs.
