10 Hrs. DAP for Infants and Toddlers in February
This course satisfies the mandatory training part II (with passage of competency exam), and the 10 hour in-service training requirement for child care personnel and family child care home providers. This course is designed for child care professionals responsible for the care of children birth through 36 months. The course provides an overview of the need for quality care, stages of development, appropriate interactions, learning environments and experiences, health and safety practices, positive guidance strategies, observation and assessment, relationships with families, and quality caregivers.
English: Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25
Spanish: Jan. 15, 22, 29 and Feb 5
Time: 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

 This course also satisfies the mandatory training part II (with passage of competency exam), and the 10 hour in-service training requirement for child care personnel and family child care home providers. This course is designed for child care professionals responsible for the care of children 3 to 5 years. The course provides an overview of the stages of development, learning environments, health and safety practices, enhance development and learning, creating a positive, caring community of learners.

| Train the Trainers Course January 16th
 This course can be taken by child care directors, new trainers and others who would like to learn about training techniques addressing the specific characteristics of adult learners attending child care training and poses realistic training challenges new trainers will face. The course will be offered in our Training and Resource Center from 8:00am to 2:30pm.
Register online in the DCF website www.myflorida.com/childcare. Beyond group discussions and questioning techniques, participants will gain insight and hands-on experience with other strategies such as role plays, motivation activities, and adult learning centers. | |

2 New Locations for Competency Exams
Fort Myers: Starting in January 2010, Child Care of Southwest Florida will offer the Saturday competency exams at the Southwest Florida College , College, 1685 Medical Lane, Fort Myers 33907. The exams scheduled on Mondays will still be offered in our Training and Resource Center located on S. Tamiami Trail, as well as the classes. If you need more information regarding this new location, please call 239-278-0160.
Naples: Exams will be offered at Edison State College (Collier Campus), located at 7007 Lely Cultural Pkwy in Naples . The exams will be held in the Auditorium. For further information about the exams and to register, please go to the website www.myflorida.com/childcare. | | |
