February 17, 2010 RE: SERC To All PSI Members;
In Santa Monica, California, last Saturday February 13, a small group of ISRI leaders including 3 PSI members, John Sacco of Sierra International, Jason Young from the Allan Company and I, had the opportunity to meet with former Vice President Al Gore and California Senator Barbara Boxer, both powerful allies of the recycling industry. Our discussion covered several topics, the first of which related to the strength of our trade association and its member companies to provide jobs, promote the recycling industry and assist in the balance of trade through export sales. We also addressed climate change, carbon reduction legislation and the importance of recycling, as well as ISRI's centrality to such legislation. Finally, we achieved our goal of establishing access to the Senator for future dialogue on issues like fair trade and port operations as well as black liquor subsidies.
This was a wonderful opportunity to speak about our industry and promote our agenda. We are grateful to ISRI for organizing this meeting and for guaranteeing that PSI was included and well represented.
That being said, and knowing that there is strength in numbers, PSI works hard throughout the year to keep our membership growing. The size of our chapter not only gives us more clout on the issues, but keeps the association strong and working better for you, our members. For those of you planning to attend the Southeast Recycling Conference (SERC), March 7-10, we need your help. PSI is sponsoring the cocktail reception in the hotel lobby Monday, March 8, after 9 p.m. Please spread the word about the benefits of PSI membership, taking a minute or two in your private meetings to speak with non-members to help promote PSI. Feel free to bring them to our booth, and if you require talking points, please visit our website, paperstockindustries.org and click the tab on the left labeled "Who we are". Along with many other PSI board members and members at large, I will be in attendance and will be available at our booth to assist you.
Thank you for taking the time while you are in Destin to spread the word about the good work PSI and ISRI are doing on your behalf and for our industry. I look forward to seeing you there and hope your travels are safe and enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Kevin Duncombe
PSI President

| Request for PR volunteer leader.
Finally, the PSI board is looking for a clever volunteer who can assist the convention committee to get our information out to the public in catchy and appealing ways. If you have someone to recommend who would be perfect for this position, please send an email to info@paperstockindustries.org. |
