Greetings!

I enjoy reading good books outdoors in the summertime.  Maybe you do too.

Recently, I picked up a copy of Neither Wolf Nor Dog:  On Forgotten Roads with an Indian Elder, by Kent Nerburn.  It was recommended to me by Dr. Jerry Yellowhawk, who is one of our elders.  Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.

If you'd like to get a first-person perspective on the Native experience in North America and learn what has shaped them as a people...and if you want to go beyond some of the stereotypes of Native people and learn some of the things Natives wish white people understood about them, then I highly encourage you to read this book.

It is an easy read, but not easy to read. What I mean is that some of what you read will shock you and some will break your heart. It is not necessarily a "Christian" book (though it does touch on spirituality) and there is some salty language at times.  But you'll gain a fresh perspective and be richer for the experience.  You can purchase a copy from Amazon by clicking our link on the left side of this page.

In Christ,

Rich Avery
Director
Continue to Pray for Onondaga Chapel
Onondaga Wesleyan Chapel

Please continue to pray for Pastor Sandy & Mary Sinesi and the congregation at The Wesleyan Chapel Among the Onondagas, in Syracuse, NY.  The church was destroyed by fire last month, and they are still waiting on the Lord re: when/if to rebuild.  They are now holding worship services at their community outreach center, called The Eagle Life Center.
