Asheville's Aesop
"How the Red Wolf Found its Howl"
By: Jonathon Flaum
Red Wolf is a simple yet powerful story about a wolf in search of self. Mumon aspires to become leader of his pack to bring them out of captivity so that they can experience life as real wolves should.
In order to do this, Mumon must journey to find the metaphorical howl, which was lost during their years of confinement.
Along the way he grapples with fear, shame, doubt, and death, which he must conquer to become what his pack needs him to be.
This is the same journey that any person aspiring to become an effective leader must undergo, and through Mumon, we come to understand that the challenge of serving others in authentic leadership lies in the overcoming of our fears to find our real selves.
Overall this books is about finding authentic leadership. One does not know his/her inherit power until he/she turns inward to discover an inner voice and purpose.
It's wise, thought-provoking and a wake-up call for you and your managers to redefine what true leadership is.
To purchase the book please contact Asheville's WriteMind Institute www.writemindinstitute.com, www.amazon.com or Malaprops.

Client Spotlight
Happy One Year Anniversary Vigne!
A neurosurgeon and a master hairstylist
When Dr. Steve Stranges and Guadalupe Chavarria II partnered together to open Vigne, culinary greatness was achieved. Vigne brings a unique dining experience to Asheville, rich in sophisticated innovation but with a friendly flair. Vigne, located in Asheville's trendy warehouse district, is just a few blocks from the heart of downtown, for a taste of real community.
Recently rated five out of five stars for food and wine by the Asheville Citizen-Times, Vigne offers euro american cuisine ranging from Louisiana crawfish to Moroccan glazed scallops to a Coeur du Filet- always made from fresh, local ingredients.
And don't forget the wine- Vigne's namesake. Dr. Stranges invites us to discover the world's most notable vineyards and enjoy wine in perfect harmony with food.
Working with the staff at Vigne has been a true pleasure. It's always exciting to represent a client whose food and vision exceed even my expectations.
So, my favorites? The shrimp & orzo cake appetizer with lemon sauce and the calamari are a must. Next, the lobster risoto and the filet. And don't forget the bread... ah that glorious fresh baked bread!
A special thanks to Vigne from Pegasus

They'd Better-Believe-It
Branding

Branding is best described as how the public perceives your image. It could be a look, a special logo, font, color, or mascot. It's that one thing that sets you apart from the competition, that one stand-out quality that gets them and keeps them using your service.
Examples? Think Tide, Snuggle Fabric Softener, Budweiser, Target. It's the orange bottle, stuffed bear, Clydesdale horse and red bulls-eye brilliantly used repetitively and purposefully to create and sustain image.
Now consider constancy. Putting together a marketing campaign is like putting together an outfit. It's got to match, the pieces need to compliment each other, and they need to make a statement- bold, subtle, friendly, sophisticated- you decide.
The most successful campaigns are not only consistent with their logo, website, marketing materials and advertising. They're also consistent with their sales approach, their long and short term goals and their vision.
Branding isn't just the look- it's the whole package. Remember, first impressions only become lasting impressions when they're backed by a company that is ethical, credible, reliable and has a little heart!
"You are never a great man when you have more mind than heart."

It's about time you Organize
-Make a list. Every morning I look at what I need to get accomplished. On Mondays, look at the week ahead for the bigger picture.
- Limit e-mailing to 3 times per day. If it's crucial- they'll call. This eliminates interruptions and lets you focus on your task at hand.
- Let Microsoft Outlook play Personal Asst.- reminding you of meetings, luncheons and your to-do list.
- Streeeeccch.... Give yourself a break, and make sure and avoid the "eat at your desk" routine. You'll be much more productive in the end.
- Streamline tasks. Partner with companies you can count on that handle multiple tasks- better for you AND your clients...
