Know Thyself
We are complicated human beings, with a wide variety of life experiences, interests, values and notions of what it means to be passionate and fully alive. Self-knowledge is a critical element to understanding why we act the way we act, why we are drawn to the people and things we are drawn to, and why we often find ourselves repeating patterns that are self-defeating.
Chogyam Trungpa says, "we have a fear of facing ourselves. That is the obstacle. Experiencing the innermost core of our existence is very embarrassing to a lot of people. A lot of people turn to something that they hope will liberate them, without their having to face themselves. This is impossible. We can't do that. We have to be honest with ourselves. We have to see our ... most undesirable parts... whatever is there we have to face it, we have to look at it, study it, work with it...."
Awareness and understanding of ourself is the first step to engaging in a journey of growth, personal change and ultimately, improved relationships and enjoyment of life.
Socrates challenged us to "know thyself!" At the Santa Fe Center for Relationships, we would like to support you in that effort by offering you an opportunity to indeed get to know yourself better. The "Keeping the Love You Find" Workshop is an intensive self-growth weekend workshop for singles and individuals based on the
work of Harville Hendrix, founder of Imago Relationship Therapy and author of "Getting the Love You Want" and "Keeping the Love You Find". This weekend will be an opportunity for participants to more fully "know themselves".
We invite you to join us on this exciting journey of self-exploration! See below for details. |
